So, When Does Season 8 REALLY End?

Is the 8 issue "Spike" arc considered part of Season 8, since it's the explanation of why Spike shows up in Season 8 and whatever the story is behind his yellow spacecraft, bug crew, and all the rest, plus the information that he has about the seed, supposed to be considered actually part of Season 8? And if so, does that mean that Season 8 can't be officially over until Issue 8 of that arc?

The Spike miniseries is to season 8 what "Caprica" was to "Battlestar Galactica." It's an interesting prequel, but you don't need to see it for BSG to be complete.

I would say no as it's officially part of IDW's run. But I'm sure that it will have a ton of relevant information. So, here's a question for you WA (or any other IDW readers): do you think it's necessary to have read any of the IDW comics to read & understand the Spike series?

It is my understanding that the Spike miniseries is supposed to bridge the continuity gap between "After The Fall/Aftermath" and all of the other IDW goings on and what has been happening in Season 8. I would assume, therefore, that, while it isn't an absolute prerequisite, information contained in those 8 issues, at least, will shed some light into the shadowy areas of Season 8. Whether the same thing could be said for the final issues of Angel's title, I'm not sure, but I'm reading them anyhow, just in case.

I think having read ATF or other IDW Spike comics will enhance your enjoyment of the Spike series, but it's not necessary. There are a few IDW OC's in the series, but they give the quick back story at the beginning so you have an idea of who they are. The main focus is Spike, and you already know him.
