So, who else climbed out of their bedroom window at night?

Buffy did it. I did it...and so have some of you. You know, sneaking out of your window to go party somewhere. Saying goodnight to the parents, pretending you're going to sleep...when in reality, you are preparing to make a quick getaway. I did this a lot when I was 15-16. Only got caught once. Let us not speak of such unpleasant things.

Share with us. We all want to know about your exploits. 😇

I only had to sneak out when I was living with my grandmother, and then a window wasn't required. There was one bathroom and it was connected to the utility room (washer, dryer, a large freezer, and extra food storage...plus a bed for my cousin). I was careful not to step on part of the floor that squeaked for the express purpose so that Granny couldn't listen for it as I went back to bed (and could thus just walk out the door in the utility room).

My cousin took me to a keg party as the high schoolers (as he himself was) wanted to see the girl that upset the most popular preacher in town. In addition to being kids, we lived in a dry county that doesn't allow for money to be made off alcohol (people had to go to the next county to buy it, which contributed to a lot of drunk drivers coming back), and one had to pay a dollar to get in to this keg party to help pay for the beer (and our hands were stamped). This was out in the pasture and there was a lookout so when deputies showed up we had plenty of time to run (those of us on foot anyway, those there in their trucks were SOL, and it was said that the deputies caught another one as he slowed himself down by trying to carry a keg away--a keg that turned out to be nearly empty).

My cousin came prepared with a flashlight and we got home walking down some railroad tracks cutting through the woods. Had we been busted, both our butts would've felt the wrath of Granny's belt (or worse, that of Zack's father, and yeah, he'd whip me right along with his son). If given a choice between a jail or our parent/guardians, we both might've chosen jail.

One kinda disturbing memory I have was where friends and I broke snuck into the room of a girl (she let us in) who one of the boys was interested in. He was wearing some band shirt with a demonic image and yet he convinced her she could trust him (and us). Luckily for her, she could. But had we acted on evil impulses that left her dead then I doubt the parents or police would've had any clue on how she was "taken" from her room.

The most surreal was when we went to find a guy who had pot for a party (I was technically a 16-year-old runaway, but that's even more delinquent than sneaking out, and this was more daring in that we were breaking in to a place none of us lived). We got there, and actually broke in when we realized no one was home (he lived with his mother but both were gone). I can't remember if we took some pot he had or it was our own (I think we were stoned when we got there) but we were smoking pot while we waited and cranking up the tunes, planning on telling the mother that her son said we could be here should she show up first....and then a phone right beside me rang.

Completely stoned, I answered and found it was the guy who lived there who said the cops were after him and needed us to pick him up, and ironically was only a few blocks from where the party was, so it was convenient for us. Something bothered me about this but I was so stoned that it took me awhile before I could think of what it was, and then I asked, "How did you know to call us in your own room?"

"I don't know!"

That one still mystifies me, though one possibility is that he tried calling someone before us who told him that we'd gone to his house to try to find him, and he was so stoned that he forgot that by the time he was talking to us over the phone. Crazy times.

Oh I like this one hehe. Can kids now sneak out windows or are they alarmed or sealed?

My step sisters and I used to sneak out the second story window to sit on the roof and smoke. This was not just done in the family home but anywhere we were on holidays also. We got busted a few times cos my step sisters are fat and broke roof tiles. The stepmother did not seem to click about the smoking and was more concerned about roof tiles in the pool.

Before that I used to sneak out the window to meet a boy, he also snuck in that window but we were good little children and did not do naughty things at that age, just a bit of snogging and night walks under the stars.

The windows at boarding school were bolted shut with mesh, so we had to sneak out the laundry door. This door was directly across from the boarding assistants room and was always a big risk. Once we were out we were free. We had to get out through the paddocks to the road or down to the river or the harbour front, if we went towards the school, the working dogs would bark and tell on us. The stars were amazing, and on occasion, kids from surrounding areas would trek down and meet us. We had a stash of cigarettes and alcohol under the water pipe and the boys had a cannabis grow on the foreshore. Fun times.

Don't know if it necessarily counts as 'sneaking out', but me and my cousin went out few times at night when we were in Honolulu on vacation. Had lots of fun! 😳

Yes, yes. More details, please!
When I was sixteen I used to sneak out of my bedroom window in the middle of the night to go over to my boyfriend's house (he lived just up the road). I'd climb out my window and then climb back into the house through the bathroom window. Did that about three times before I finally got caught.

It SUCKS to be caught. I'd gotten home around 3am, and my bedroom window was locked...from the inside. (Uh oh!) Also, the light was on and the bar chair I used to climb out was gone. I KNEW that I was about to have a very serious problem. Obviously, I had to go in through the front door. And of course, the parents were waiting for me.

That wasn't fun.

Haha, I hear you, my dad caught me as I was half-way out the window. My cover? I was going out for a smoke :/ Not sure why I thought I'd get in less trouble for smoking than for dating behind my parents' back. Ah, the stupidity of the teenage-years. I do not miss it.

I've always said those who can recall their teen years without cringing have an enviable ability to forget the unpleasant stuff like that.

At first, my mum could barely speak, she was so enraged. Stepdad stayed quiet, but occasionally gave me threatening glances. I was grounded for a month, no phone, no tv, only studying and chores. Pretty dire. They'd threatened to send me to a school for delinquents 😂 but that never happened. Thank God.

I didn't ever... I'm more of an introvert who would have rather stayed indoors. And also I lived in flats on the second floor there was no drainpipe in sight. It would have been dangerous 🙂

Wonder if it's more of a girl thing to do given the responses so far? I was pretty dull early/mid teens so didn't have anywhere pressing to be. Think if I did though I'd have just left through the front door and said when I'd be back.

Could be a girl thing, the boys at boarding school needed more beauty sleep than the girls did.

By 15 I could pretty much come & go as I pleased as I had my own key (no risking breaking my neck climbing in a window at 3am blatted)……..Then by 16 I had left home & was living in London, so I kinda missed all that sort of thing...….probably a good thing really 😀

@HoppyHippy & @Amber Bunny Slippers Mostly hitting the beach, few clubs/bars, crashed a luau & hit a party...oh and my 1st girl. 😀

I literally did this like every weekend My sophomore/jr yr in HS because I had a ridiculous cerfew of 12. So whereever I was, party etc, I’d have someone, usually whatever boyfriend I had at the time, come and drop me off, I’d check in with the parents (who were already asleep) then just sneak right back out after 5 minutes or so.

I am in my early 30s now and I remember a few years ago my mom and I were having lunch and talking about life and growing up and child rearing and she was like “you used to sneak out the window didn’t you?” And I turned bright red and denied it but she smiled and changed the subject so I guess she knew??? Lol!
