So, who was the big bad in season 2?

I can see how one could argue that Drusilla was the big bad in Season two, but she wasnt. She had her "visions" which initiated alot of things but she never went through with anything really on her own. The only time that she even showed that she had any power was when she forced Angelus not to kill Xander in the Valentines episode. Angelus was the one who really was able to get things going. I think had it not been for Angelus Buffy wouldve ended up killing Spike and Dru somewhere in the second season.
 
I think it was Spike/Dru/Angelus, mainly because i think that's the way it was written, with all of Spike & Dru's failed attempts at destruction being basically a lead in for Angel turning evil.
 
As far as I am concerned Spike is the only big bad, because he called himself the big bad.
I seriously doubt that Angelus would want to have anything to do with being a big bad, purely because Spike started the whole - I'm a big bad - thing.
 
I'm not sure whos more evil angelus or Spike...Spike wants Power he wants to be the "lord" of Sunnydale. I think Spike want's to be evil but you can't compare him with Angelus who just want's to damage other people. So Angelus is more evil than Spike because he has fun about teared people.
 
Angelus, because the entire last half of the season was centered around him being evil.

Mostly Spike and Dru in the beginning though.
 
We were led to believe that Spike and Dru were the big bad...just like we were in season 6 with the trio. It turned out to be Angelus, just like it turned out to be Dark Willow. The writers have to focus our attention elsewhere...but there was foreshadowing for both events.
 
I think there is a transition during the season. Its pretty easy to see. Spike and Dru are the obvious Big Bads in town and then Angelus comes in and everything changes.

No doubt about it, Angelus.

Spike and Dru were clearly huge parts of the season, but they were the red herring big bads. We were meant to think that they were going to be the main villains to cloak Angel transforming into Angelus.

All you really need to know in order to tell? The very ending of "Becoming Part 2", who is Buffy fighting in that epic sword battle? Angelus (and plus, she teams up with Spike at the end).
 
Angelus. I think it's similar to what they did on Angel, season 4 and Buffy season 6. They made us think that The Beast was the big bad when in reality it's Jasmine, and in season 6 it seems as if it's The Trio but it's actually Dark Willow.
