So why was it only Buffy getting a job?

She had other people in her house that could have gotten a job to help pay the taxes, rent etc.

So why was it only Buffy getting a job? Why didn't Willow lazy butt get a job? Why didn't Tara and Dawn get a job?

Anya had a job at the Magic Box with Giles, Xander had a job at the construction site. Dawn was old enough to get a job. Willow and Tara weren't that busy in UC Sunnydale.

This is the one thing that bugged me about season 6 the most

Does Tara mention that at some stage?
I would have imagined her mother wouldn't have had any money, going on the way her Father and brother treated women.

I agree I'd say Willow was getting money from her Parents putting her through college.

This is one thing that always bugged me too. Willow and Tara were living with Buffy, but we never saw them offer to help financially. Of course we never saw if they did, though, so it could be that they did and it just wasn't enough to really help get them out of the hole.
I think, though, that we can safely assume Tara's family wasn't helping her. After their appearance in "Family", I got the impression that they were lower-class people and their reaction to her lifestyle certainly didn't lead me to think they would ever help her in any way.

Most university students can expect to be in massive debt for both the courses and the dorm room and after signing up for the dorm room, moving out does not necessarily get a refund. Willow and Tara were helping out in the sense of looking after Dawn, who would have been lost in the welfare system without them.

Also I imagine, with University + Slaying while Buffy was dead, they were busy enough. Afterwards, Willow had her own problems with kicking the magic addiction that would prevent her from having a proper job, and Tara moved out, so naturally nobody would expect her to chip in.

About Dawn I think because Buffy always saw her as much more of a child than she actually was she would've been against letting her out by herself and work. maybe helping out at the Magic Box under supervision, but that's as far as it would go.

@The Dark Avenger i soo agree! Poor Buffy already gets no sleep from the slaying, looking after dawn and the rest of the world plus being dead n all. I totally agree that willow and tara should have gotten a job for sure seeing as they lived at Buffy's house. Also for Buffy to have all that debt worry after being pulled back from heaven you think the guys would have thought 'ah ill put money towards it seeing as buffy saved me life everyday' lol 🙂

Exactly. Willow and Tara were incredibly helpful in caring for Dawn, but between attending school full time and assisting with keeping the forces of evil at bay, they really didn't have time to earn extra income on the side. Furthermore, I always figured that they weren't really a drain on Buffy financially; their meals were most likely covered by tuition and they probably ate just about all of them on campus. With the exception of a few instances in which the scoobies eat together on special occasions, (ie to have a meeting of some sort), we don't see them snacking at the Summers' house. Buffy always talks about bringing home dinner for herself and Dawn, not the others.
So they're not putting Buffy further in debt by living with her, and if anything, they're saving her from having to pay someone to look after Dawn.

As for Dawn getting a job? Yeah, maybe she could have, but Buffy wanted to make sure she could focus on school. That's understandable...

I hardly think this puts a dent in Buffy's purse. 😉 Friends come over and snack on food all the time, without being asked to contribute to the rent! I meant that they don't eat meals there on a regular basis.

To me it looked like she was primarily feeding Dawn. But if she wanted to steal what amounts to an egg, a splash of milk and a bit of mix, again, I think that'd be ok!
