No, I don't think there is. And I'm not saying that just because I am a Bangel, I just don't see a relationship there, at least not a 'forever' kind of relationship.

I think it would be too easy, too un-Whedonlike. Besides, if the Hellmouth is a lousy place to try and have a relationship, then the Hellmouth just before an apocalypse is hopeless.

I think what Buffy and Spike *need* (as opposed, perhaps, to *want*) from each other is friendship, trust, and support.
