I saw this question on another forum I visit, and I thought I'd share. 🙂

Hypothetically speaking, if the Scoobies had Facebook, Twitter, etc., etc, how do you think that would change the slaying business [if at all]?

How do you think social media would help the Scoobies? How would it hinder them?

Nice question!
I don't think it'd really make a difference. I can't see how it would help at all apart from if they're researching someone and want to take a peek at their facebook page. But I doubt the bad guys would state their badguy business on there! (Although then again, some people post some stupid things...)

So nah I don't really think it'd make that much of a difference! I doubt they'd have time for it really. But who knows?

...hmm..I think it would probably make more difference to Angel Investigations than the scoobies 🙂

I can't really think how it would affect the scoobies

I imagine Harmony would have a Facebook page.

Think the Scoobies would use code names for things on Twitter and maybe post strange links on each other's Facebook walls to info about demons. Dawn would also post status after status of ' 🙁 Why me?' and then not answer any of the comments people would post to ask her what's wrong.

..But maybe I've given this too much thought.

Well maybe it would help if they ever got another case like Cassie in S7... After all, Willow had to Google her to find the poems and all.. Maybe she would have found her Tumblr or FB page if it had been in the Social Media era...

Other than that I don't really see how it would've changed anything...

Well the Scoobies tried to keep what they did a secret, so I can't imagine them using social networking sites that could very easily expose them.

I could see them having accounts that they may have used to keep tabs on certain people, but I doubt any of the sites would play a big role in the Scoobies lives.

The AI team would probably get more out of social networking sites than the Scoobies because of the types of clients they often worked with; missing people, cheating spouses etc.

Edit: I could see it becoming a problem when someone witnessed the team slaying and captured a video of it on their cell phone then uploaded it to You Tube and Facebook.

I guess they would hang out more at home instead of hanging out in the Bronze which would be sad in my eyes. I don't it would affect their slaying-plans in any way. But I can imagine that they would have more friends because of Facebook and so may one or two more persons who get close enought to discover the Slayer-secret!

All in all I had surprisely much more difficult to imagine the Scoobie Gang qith Facebook, Twitter and Skype than I thougt! It just doesn't fit and it would destroy the Scoobie Gang picture! 🙂

I can see why you all give it a "no", after all, what they do is kind of top-secret. 😉

Still, I'm going to have to say that I think social media would've been an amazing thing to have...let alone be a huge asset to them.

Reasons being is that telephones can only do so much, and yes, same with Facebook and the like but I can see them, okay, maybe not the CORE Scoobies, but I can see some of their comrades keeping in touch via Skype, for example, if some informant has something that they needed and such. They could just hold it up to the computer screen...LOL!

On another note, I can definitely see HARMONY having a Facebook or Twitter page. 😉

I doubt they'd have time for it really.
Yeah, that was kinda my first thought, along those lines. Seeing how many of us keep idling away oodles of hours & co, maybe it'd turn out that a lot of vampires and demons would stay un-slayed because Buffy was too busy updating her status timeline... 😉

I don't think social media would have made much of a difference with the Scoobies. They were all about keeping things private, so if anything, maybe they would have used texting a lot to help each other and make each other aware of things.
The AI crew, though, could have used social media to drum up business. 😉
