When Buffy's family and friends deny her refuge from the cops, she turns to the streets and slaying, where she discovers there's a new kind of vampire slayer in town . . .

"¢ Buffy stakes her way into a new kind of trouble!

1) ANGEL IS GOING TO TRY TO BRING GILES BACK TO LIFE WITH MOHRA BLOOD!! A&F is shaping up to be an incredible book.

2) I am officially done with the Scooby gang. Empty Places was bad enough, but this? I don't care if they are upset with Buffy...she's their family. She would never do it to them.

3) Buffy looks like Heidi in that first cover.

OMG. Bringing the dead back to life?? GILES?! I did not expect that at all. Wonder what Buffy would think of that? If the summary is accurate and on point, I'd say Angel is going in a really bad direction. His idea of redemption could be just as self destructive and backward as the Twilight thing.

I'm kinda confused and intrigued by the Scoobies. The summary makes it seem like they're shunning Buffy, but the actual comic might play out a little differently. I don't really know what to think right now. But Buffy getting in trouble with the local authorities? Sounds just right to me, lol. Also- I like Willow's new hair. 😀

eta- and whoa, just noticed something. In the second Buffy cover, does that guy look like the cop from the last Jeanty cover to anyone else? His clothes look like they could he could be a detective (if they weren't all ripped, i mean) and he's got the same coloring/hair. Is he the "new kind of vampire slayer"?

Wow the Angel books are looking to be pretty awesome.

And I'm ready to punch many of the Scooby gang in the face. And then run away. Since I am small and really . . .not that strong.

Kick em the shins! :p
I'm imaging Angel going down a similar, but darker, road to what he did during S2 of his own show. So caught up and lost in making it "RIGHT" that he can't see how wrong this quest actually is.

It'd be really interested to know how Buffy would feel about this too. On one hand she has gone through this and knows how awful it is to be pulled from Heaven, but on the other side, would she want Giles back that much?

I'm way, way, way, way too tired with the Scoobies not being there for Buffy. Can't they find new storylines for them? Poor Scoobies.

It's gone too far at this stage. Dawn is especially disgraceful.

I don't get it. Xander and Dawn were so supportive in S8, especially in #40, they let her sleep in their apartment and opened their home for her. What the hell changed?

For Truth. This is what I'm wondering.

If I had to wager a guess: peace.

People who live in constant conflict (as the Scoobies had), one they experience peace they will do almost anything to keep it. They got to be normal people and I'm guessing they don't want Buffy ruining that for them.

Nevertheless, I don't understand how they can do that too her. It's even harder to swallow given that Buffy told Angel that her friends were the entire reason she keeps fighting.

Ugh.😡

I guess we have to wait and see. I'm so afraid it's gonna be another Empty Places, and by that I mean the Scoobies acting cruel without explaining why which is cruel from the writers on the Scoobies behalf. We love those characters, stop trashing them please.

Yeah, we can only wait and see, but it really does not look good. And I have to wonder, if it is as bad as we think it is, how the Hell is Buffy withstanding this? How long should she take this treatment?

The Angel & Faith story sounds interesting. I really don't think raising Giles from the dead it the right option and it will be interesting to see if he succeeds or changes his mind part way down the road. I like that Faith obviously has doubts about the plan.

I agree that the Scoobies not helping Buffy is getting a bit old but will wait to see the circumstances before getting too worried. Who knows, maybe there are legitimate reasons for them not helping her out? (what they are I cannot guess...)
I do think the guy in the ripped shirt is the policeman from the earlier cover. Is he a male vampire slayer or just a guy who likes to kill vampires in his spare time? Riley 2.0? *Yawn*

Love Willow's new do!

I was thinking the same about Willow :)

It's not all that uncommon for combat troops to form strong personal bonds with the people who share the fight with them, people who you literally trust with your life. It's also not that uncommon for those people to discover, once the smoke clears, that, without the battle, they haven't very much to keep their bond intact.

Even a short respite from the action could have been sufficient to convince Xander and Dawn that they really had neither the desire nor the need to continue the fight, especially now that Buffy has several potential allies, the new Slayers, who are far more qualified to help than hey ever were. As for Willow, I got the feeling that she would be pretty much totally involved in some kind of quest to restore at least some part of the magic that Buffy destroyed.

As for the mysterious new demon slayer...

Maybe Doc Savage's grandson is alive and living in San Francis (At least they seem to share the same tailor)

OMG I love Willow's hair!! WOW, so cute!

But WTF, I hate that the Scoobies aren't being there for Buffy AGAIN. What is up with this new backstabbing theme they just can't seem to get past since Season 7??

I agree with Kean about seeing Angel going back down the similar road of Season 2 of Angel... But I know Faith won't put up with too much broodiness and craziness from him. She'll give him the kick in the pants he needs to get his ass back in the right place. 😉

As for Angel's "mission" to raise Giles from the dead, that sounds suspiciously similar to what Dawn tried to do for Joyce in Season 5, and I got the distinct feeling that whatever came back wouldn't necessarily be the Joyce that Dawn and Buffy knew as "Mom." As in, zombie, maybe? Hasn't Joss played this trump card way past the limit already? There should be some sort of finality to death, but in the Buffyverse you can't count on ANYBODY staying dead. Why bother to kill them in the first place?

I agree. Faith won't deal with Angel's crap in the same manner that AI did back then. If he tries to push her away (and he will) she will just get in his face. The same way he got in hers. She'd also have no qualms about calling in help, either from his gang or from Buffy if she felt that she alone wasn't enough to keep him on the right track.

That makes me terribly sad for Buffy if it is the case. I absolutely hate that these people can keep doing this to her. I can't believe I am actually finding myself thankful for Spike, because I know he won't turn on her.

I actually thought of Giles in IOHEFY when he just got completely lost in the idea of Jenny coming back.

I too would prefer if Giles wasn't brought back. His actual resurrection isn't what interests me, it's Angel desperation and how it is pushing him to do this. That journey is what I am excited about.

Also, I really feel that the Mohra blood is very significant and will be what bring Buffy and Angel back together (not as a couple but...she'll forgive him and be able to move on from last season). Inevitably Buffy is going to get wind of what Angel is doing. She'll blow into London angry and full of purpose. She'll recognise the Mohra and question Angel about it, its blood and that November day a thousand lifetimes ago. Eventually he'll end up telling her what actually happened and Buffy will be floored. We saw last season how grateful and just...moved, she was by Angel giving up paradise for her. For her to hear that he had done it years before that...I think her whole perspective on him, last season and in general will shift.

I sure wish the comics would start coming out already. They're getting too far ahead with these solicitations.

If mohra blood can resurrect the dead... it still shouldn't work, because all other dimensions are closed off and there would be no way for the soul to return from the afterlife... unless the soul is still trapped in this world, that is. It could be that since the Seed was broken, nobody can go to heaven or hell. That might include Giles, who died just seconds before Buffy broke it.

I'm a bit bored of the constant rehashing of plots, i.e. the whole resurrection thing, abandonment of Buffy by the Scoobies, Angel seeking redemption (again), etc. Saying that I'm sure it will still be an interesting read and there's bound to be more to it than just that, perhaps it will be written from a different angle to make it feel more original.

I hope Angel is gonna end up bringing back Cordy, not Giles. 😉 That would be a delicious twist. Even though I love the G-man.

Buffy might recognize the Mohra if she sees it, though to the best of my knowledge, she only saw the one for a few seconds (as far as her memory of the events remain at present) and never saw another, or ever had any reason later on to learn about the things that its blood might be used for. However, with an entire continent and the Atlantic Ocean separating them, the chances of her seeing it are quite close to nil. But even if she does somehow happen to be present when Angel captures, kills, or just buys a pint of blood from one, she really won't have any idea of its significance, unless Angel himself tells her, since he is tha only one left who knows the story. But I agree, if Buffy DOES happen to find out the true story, she will, indeed, be floored. And very quickly thereafter, Angel will be decked, probably several times.

Buffy has never been one to like people going behind her back, doing things that affect her without her knowledge and consent, and the whole "I Will Remember You" thing seems more like a useless gesture than any sort of reasonable sacrifice, considering that she died defending a loved one anyhow. Granted, after consideration, Buffy might be convinced that Angel was (once again) working with the best of intentions, but his good intentions and Willow's spells seem to share something in common. They tend to backfire almost as often as an old pickup truck.

One way or the other, Buffy deserves to know what really happened, though, and it might actually become as important that she does as it was for Connor to regain his memory when he fought Sahjahn. And I honestly do hope that we aren't robbed of that revelation the same way that we were robbed of her reaction when she found out that Spike was back.

Reading that Giles is going to be the third most important character of Angel & Faith makes me just so excited!!! The first issue cannot come quickly enough!
