Some Additions to the Board

The staff has spent several weeks working on the issue of bullying on the board and what we can do to help.

There are a few changes we've made or are in the process of making that I'd like to talk a little about now.

First, we have a new subforum of Angel Investigations called Confidential Member Concerns. In this forum, you will only be able to see your own threads. This forum is for your use ifyou have a problem you want to discuss privately, or if you have a concern or question for the staff. This is also a great place to get the "low down" on any rumors you might be hearing around the boards.

Second, we are adding a new monthly award to the board for the member who shows the most respect for their fellow members. Check out the next Board Newsletter for more info!

Third, we have created a forum for new members to the board to hopefully help them feel less overwhelmed by things around here. (Only newbies will be able to see this forum.)

Fourth, we are creating an Anti-Bullying Council which will be populated by (non-staff) members. edb will have more info on that and how to sign up for it shortly.

And finally, in an effort to be more available to anyone who is having problems, I have created a board MSN Messenger account (listed in my profile). I will be signed on to this account for at least part of every day that I am online.

We hope that all of these things, with your assistance, will help to make us a stronger community.

Not to sound nitpicky, but what about people who don't have msn?

I don't quite understand what you mean by this. Rumours regarding gossip or regarding Board News?

Not complaining about any rules or anything, but is it mostly pms aimed at mods that have been a problem lately? Just wondering, because I kind of thought things had been relatively peaceful around here for awhile, at least since the "time out" backlash died down.

This isn't about the Time Out stuff - there is a lot via pm and there has been some on the boards and elsewhere.

I'm really impressed with the steps you've taken towards the bullying Buffy. It's a really difficult thing to try and tackle/prevent and I think these ideas are really well thought out and will be successful thanks! 🙂

Well, we've tried to put our heads together because it is such a hard subject. Hopefully when the member group is up and running they'll come up with some great ideas as well. 🙂

Oh I forgot to say (but edb will no doubt expand on), the member group is also meant to be folks that other members can come to if they're having a problem with bullying, if they don't feel comfortable or aren't sure about talking to the staff about it.
