Some new hints about Twilight (spoilers?)

Georges Jeanty did a Q&A on another board, and dropped a couple of small clues about the identity of Twilight...

1. It's somebody we know. (So not a stranger or a stand-in, and not the Immortal).

2. He indicated he hasn't been asked to draw Angel or Spike yet, and had no personal knowledge yet about their appearances in season 8... so unless he's being very crafty, Twilight is not Angel or Spike.

3. He said that he only submitted 2 Twilight character designs to Joss before he got approval, and that "considering who he's revealed to be", he's surprised the design process didn't go on for months.

4. He hinted that Twilight's identity will be revealed soonish.

Actually, the way he said it, it sounded like he didn't even realize Dark Horse had the right to use Angel characters. He said something like, "too bad they're under different publishers, imagine the crossovers we could do." And he talked about how he'd love to draw Angel and Spike at some point.

So unless Georges was giving an Oscar-worthy performance (and he certainly didn't seem that cagey), I'm going to go ahead and say Twilight is not Angel or Angelus.
 
But still, he didn't actualy say anything that could mean it's not Angelus? Cuz what he did is a good way of avoiding the question. A tactic which i use alot, so it could be what he was doing

Could be, I suppose, but he really didn't come across as the evasive type at all. Like I said, if he was playing us he deserves an Oscar.

I'm afraid Giles has gone back to being my suspect #1. My suspicion of Andrew has lessened.

Giles already has Ripper as his dark side though, why give him Twilight too?

And would Giles really kill that many people? Sacrifice the odd innocent here or there maybe, but all those people that have died because of Twilight so far?

The fact that he's got Ripper deep down inside him is what makes it more likely, I'd say.

This theory assumes a pattern of festering resentment dating right back to season 2... a pattern very well hidden, even from himself, until recently.

On the other hand, it may be that Twilight is someone we already know as a villain... Caleb, most likely in that case... and the painful surprise for Buffy will not be his identity, but the fact that one of her friends betrays her to him.

That's one reason it's less likely to be him... because really, none of us would be surprised.
 
It could be Pike! Angelous? The Senior Partners want Angel corrupted and setting off a world wide armegedon, so if it were Angelous or Angel They'd make sure he stayed Angel as Angelous is no-one's pet, Twilight doesn't act like Angelous, and this isn't how one would go about doomsday, it has to someone with a gripe against what Buffy has done, could be Dana but I guess she is in a secure unit, it might be a male slayer a one off anomely who knows? it could be Fray's twin or someone from the future stopping what will happen, having the slayer line stopped from being erased but likely that this someone is trying to get it erased. Which would explain why Fray is the only slayer...
 
I don't think it's going to be someone relatively obscure like Scott Hope, or Pike, or Parker Abrams or whomever. The reason they put him behind that mask is so that when it comes off, it will be a huge "Holy $%^#" moment. They're not going to force us to dig deep into our memories of Buffy lore... a lot of the readers of this comic frankly don't have that kind of detailed memory of the backstory. Also, it needs to be someone who will have an emotional impact on Buffy.

The last thing Joss wants is for that mask to come off and for everyone to stare and say "So.... who's that?"

"It's Percy West! You remember... the dumb jock Willow was writing papers for in season 3? Percy West?"

"Oh, um... I guess..."

I don't know why I read these threads - I don't read the comic, but I thought I would make a point here.

It seems to me this is exactly what Joss would do.

The whole Fanverse has been discussing who Twilight is with everyone that has some emotional resonance to Buffy being put into the frame with ALOT of time and effort gone into the reason.

Lets say Joss reads fansites.
Lets say Joss knows that the fans will invariably make well thought out guesses.
Lets say Joss is a control freak who hates the idea of his fans getting one over on him.

Now wouldn't it be possible that Joss, under the above three, would be aware of who everyone is saying and thus purposefully stay away from that person?

Besides, I think Hank, annoyed that his daughter never told him of her abilities, found out through other means and is Twilight!

^ I actually hope it is Hank, as that would be pretty neato.

Not Giles! Not Giles! Not Giles! I think it might be Giles, but I really don't want it to be him. My poor little heart will be so hurt!
 
^ Agreed. I want it to be Hank. I can just imagine the last page. A teary Buffy saying "Dad". That would be nifty. But I think it will be Giles. 🙁

hmm...so....does everyone in the entire buffyverse have a motive for twilight?

besides xander & dawn, i guess.

i hope it's not giles, he's already betrayed her.
 
It could be Hank. I'm not sure a lot of people would recognize him right away, but if they revealed him by Buffy saying "dad" instead of just showing him unmasked, that would work.
