Some things that annoy me

Yeah, when you are a corpse. But they were living and dead. Well, I think that was said on BtVS, that vampires don't grow hair :/
Hair (including facial hair) just grows MUCH more slowly on vampires. Angel points out that even after his centuries of life, he still hasn't mastered shaving since he has to do it so infrequently.

Makes sense as Angel(us)'s had facial hair sporadically and Spike & Angel have sported different hairstyles...

first off it's 'son' not 'sun' 🙂

as to the whole 'happiness = soul taken away' thing. Isn't it if he has a moment of total and complete happiness?

I mean if it's jsut he's not miserable as hell then that would be ANY time he's hanging out with buffy or anyone really who doesn't want to kill him lol.

as to giving vamps souls it IS complicated. which is why they needed that gypsy gem thing to attempt the spell in S2. and do all the research to find the correct spell etc.

as I highly doubt there's 1 of those gems for every vampire in the world it's not feasable (or fun) to give every vamp a soul.

and as a side note. why is it EVERY vamp w/a soul is good all of the sudden (ok i mean the whole 2 we've seen lol) but i mean... people have souls (if you believe the soul thing etc.) but clearly there's some horrible evil people out there.

Yeah, that's something that annoys me. On the one hand they'll say 'soul equals goooood' but then they'll have characters like Warren or Knox who have souls but did bad, bad things. I started a thread about it, I think. I take the Flannen approach now and try not to think about it too much. hehe. 🙂

I am sure that there would've been plenty of "bad" souled vampires if being a souled vamp was a common occurance. I think that Darla would have been a bad souled vampire. She wanted to get sired again even though she had the memories of having tortured and killed thousands upon thousands of humans and happily watched Angelus rape innocent women. Her one good deed in life (staking herself so Connor would live) happened because CONNOR'S SOUL was inside of her during the pregnancy, it was his goodness affecting her (though she did try to abort him all throughout the pregnancy).

Spike was a good souled vampire because William was a good man and because soulless Spike still had a spark of goodness in him and a capacity for love.

Angel was a relatively good souled vampire because of the guilt of over a century of raping, torturing, and murdering. It changed him.

Wow, spot on! One of the best posts on here in a long time!

Also, keep in mind, Angelus was always a special case. Angelus was the only vampire in the Buffyverse that was confirmed to be void of a trace of humanity (the Judge).

And Spike was the only vampire to attempt to care for his family even after he lost his soul (aside from one episode of Tales of the Vampires).

Angelus was the most vicious vampire in history (according to the Master), so Liam's soul had a lot to regret. And Spike was never especially evil, he mentioned in 2004 that he just didn't understand what it meant to be evil until he was reensouled.

I think Lawson would have been a similar case to those two, but most others could go either way.

And as for why they don't, there's only one person in the world with the capability to reensoul a vampire. Imagine if there was one cardiovascular surgeon in the world, who also happened to be a soldier, and every single patient would attempt to murder her while she was trying to heal them.

in angel, all of a sudden when hes evil he name is angelous. i always thought that was just his full name.

buffy sent angel to that hell demention for so long that he lost his mind and became like an animal and they never mention it again. tho now that i think about it alot of that doesnt make sence. lol. like his beard and hair didnt grow...and he must have been drinking somethings blood cuz he wasnt starving. but ya if he was gone so long that he lost all his memory then he must of been gone like a thousand years but its never mentioned again but he can remember his vamp youth clear as a bell.

conner sucked (i didnt like dawn either. i think adding a charecter like that is dumb)

i didnt buy the love story between angel and cordy

you see angel pretty happy alot and he doesnt become evil. like wouldnt seeing your new born sun be one of those moments of "true happieness". like screwing buffy made him happier then having a sun? weird

and this one isnt just from angel but its a big one. if its so easy to cast that spell on angel to give him his soul why dont they just do it to like every vampire?

Angel was given his divine nickname because he had the 'face' of an angel, which masked the dangerous killer he had become. It was supposed to be ironic - beautiful on the outside, truly terrifying on the inside. According to the watcher chronicles Angel - or Angelus - was one of the most violent and twisted demons of the vampire race, so the fact he was physically alluring helped him in trapping his prey and made him doubly dangerous. I was watching an interview with the casting director of Buffy once and they said for this reason the physical looks of Angel was particularly difficult to cast, but when they saw David Boreanaz they knew they had found him (see Buffy season 1 credits when he looks his absolute best). Of course the fact that the actor ages while the character isn't supposed to, didn't really help.

The Cordelia/Angel relationship didn't really work for me either. There's a terrible bit somewhere in the later Angel seasons where he talks about Cordelia having a gang of girls at high school called the Cordettes. He speaks as if in admiration of her career as high school bitch (no offense cos I liked Cordelia). Really? I don't recall this from Buffy. All she did was hang out with Harmony and a few film extras, I don't remember the gang ever having a name and is this really going to impress a 200 year old ex-creature of the night? And don't make me yak but none of the love relationships felt right in Angel - except maybe that between Doyle and Cordy, which barely lasted an episode.

I feel like the characters on AtS are sometimes given false change or emotions to further plot or for certain relationships to work.
