Welcome to the Hellmouth:

"The first time this episode was shown in America, it was preceded by a short trailer that referred to previous slayers such as Lucy Hanover (who now regularly pops up in the Buffy books and comics). This has never been shown again in America and has never been seen overseas."

Anyone seen this?

I'd never heard that before, neat find! :)
I remember reading about it years ago, when I first started really getting into BtVS and bought the Watcher Guides and other non-fiction books. They spoke about the trailer, and I knew that Lucy Hanover was the only one featured who was regularly used by the authors, but it took me a long time to finally track it down online.

I think it was a nice touch, detailing the lore of the show even before the opening scene. I always wished we could go back and see the lives of past Slayers, not just their deaths.
 
I think I know what you're talking about, I've seen it online a few years ago (when the show was still pre-matured). Try looking for it on youtube, maybe it's there. Maybe not. But maybe yes.

If ever there was a reboot (a proper Mutant Enemy one, not the proposed film) then this is what I'd like to see: a past Slayer - maybe a couple of hundred years ago or even further back and her life as the Chosen One.

Yes, exactly. That's what my hope was when a spin-off was proposed after the show ended - showing the lives of past Slayers, or even the future Slayers. Something completely new and original. I thought that would have been fantastic.
 
I've heard of this, unfortunately have never seen it. In the novelization of The Harvest there is a small blurb about Lucy Hanover just before chapter 1, that was my first introduction to her.

It really is a shame that they haven't taken advantage of this great mythology.
Someone should. It would be so much more interesting than seeing the same movie again.

That was very interesting. I have never seen that particular tralier before. I think it really would be interesting to get more of a back story on some of these earlier slayers.
 
Personally, I'd die for a Fray movie. They could even have a Buffy/SMG or Willow/AH cameo (like Season 8 No Future For You). That would totally rock!

Agreed. I've always liked Fray. Maybe Joss will get funding to do a new Buffy project if "The Avengers" becomes a big box office success 😀
 
I remember those promos... They were very cool, and made me wish we'd gotten to see Buffy have dreams about the old Slayers, kinda like in the movie.
 
Very cool trailer! It would be awesome to see some of the past Slayers and what their lives were like. Especially whoever came right before Buffy. Curious, curious...
