I was searching the web today for Buffy/Angel websites, and I have found that I see this message tons of times:
http://www.denialbubble.com/bad/
OR I see that the page "no longer exsists".

Why? God I hate these people... But I swear I will continue to make websites and post on boards until FOX realizes that shutting down quailty sites won't stop us. We will live on. I hope.

This is stupid. Now I know some people have taken down their sites b/c they can't be bothered to update or that they have lost intrest, or hope in Buffy or Angel returning.... but FOX has shut down many sites that were active and only expressing their hope and opinons about the return of their beloved shows...

Someone please explain this to me b/c I have absolutely NO clue why this is happening to some of my favorite sites, and its a complete shame...

Grrr Argh!

Well, to be honest i'm quite baffled by this also. I don't understand why in the world FOX is closing these sites down. Is it to do with legal reasons...copyright reasons? I have no idea. I would also like to know why FOX is closing down these sites.

I wonder if you have a link to other targeted sites. Searching the web, I could only find a few news articles about this going on in 1999 and again in 2003. It said Fox didn't want the unlicensed distribution of its copyrighted material. Bollocks of course, we all know there's no such thing as copyright on the internet 😛.

I don't have links to all b/c I'm not on my normal computer bt I hav seen MANY BtVS and Angel related sites go down for what FOX deems "leagal reasons"....What I want is FOX to explain to me what the reasons are....

But it just bugs me that this is continuing to happen...
Its not like all sties are getting shutdown all at once b/c thats not how it is. Its happening gradually and subtly. If it is for copyright reasons what are they? Tons of websites site FOX as their source...like in fanfics and fanart...
grr...
I don't get it...

The site was most likely removed because it had copyrighted material on it that belongs to FOX. They don't want their material being used without you paying for it.

If you did not use any unauthorized material, then I have no clue. Maybe they are just feeling 'jerky'.

Cheer up! You still have Buffy-Boards! 🙂

I can't believe that ducks' fan fic is just gone! I've been reading her stuff for years and she was in the middle of a really good series.

You can put copyrighted material on your site as long as you give props to the copyright owner. That's what anyone who wants to put any sort of pics on their site does. They don't have any legal right, really, to tell them to take it down as long as they acknowledge the legal ownership of who owns it.

Actually, I'm not sure that's correct. I seem to remember when they shut down that popular site last year (I think it was SpoilerSpike, or something like that), they told him to remove all the pics.

As I understand it they don't so much shut you down as order you to remove all copyrighted material. The end result is the same though.

Something with all editorial comment like say Whedonesque.com would be safe, but the rest of us have to bow and scrape to the Fox Gods.

Btw did you see this one:

They shut down that amateur production of Once More With Feeling. Joss said he didn't mind if they put it on, but Fox had other ideas.

Remember when Disney shut down that daycare centre, because it had a picture of Mickey Mouse outside?

Joss oughtto have kept the rights to himself like George Lucas did! ~That's all I have to say.

It's not that easy if you can't afford to produce it yourself...or have a strong enough product to get it on the air without giving up some rights. Plus the Kazui's retained a lot of the rights from when they did the film.

I was contacted once by NBC about using copyrighted images in the banner and some other stuff on a Las Vegas board I used to have. They worked with me to get it into a form they were comfortable with, which meant not using NBC images and making disclaimers that it was not an official site.
