It can go both ways - I think sometimes it's better to have a job, because having a profession that you love sort of makes you not love it anymore lol. So it's good if you can separate life and work. But on the other hand, you'll go further if you have a profession you're invested in.

And I say totally the opposite. If you love what you're doing, you never work a day in your life. I spent most of my career on cockpit displays, remote sensing and spacecraft from the electronics side. I have a collection of antique radios, some of which have appeared on this forum. Engineering is a thought process just as much as a profession and once you embrace it, it never leaves you.

I had a profession (suppose I could go back if I wanted) and I loved it.

You have a point but I'm with @Ethan Reigns - if you like it enough then you're not working. I also liked the people I worked with - they were friends on campus and off so win-win

Meh...watched films and read books then talked to people about them. Wrote some stuff occasionally. It's not for everyone but there are worse ways of making a living. Never really worried much about swords...though I have a tendency to procrastinate so deadlines could be worrisome.

Wouldn't have seen the words if you didn't put them there, i think that's pretty cool! Im sort of dreading growing up and getting a job, i work and audition for tv things and plays at the moment as a kid actress but that has made me not wanna be an actress when im older!

This is a great question. I've had jobs that were just jobs and I've had jobs that were in a career field. Now, I have a bona fide profession. I find that, for me, there is not a lot of difference. I give my work my all, no matter what it is, and it means I leave nothing on the table for the rest of my life. Probably just a me thing. I'm not great at work-life balance. In my ideal world, I'd be able to work part-time, with no financial stress, and spend the rest of the time pursuing my actual passions.
