Assume for a moment that you are Spike, and, at the end of "Destiny," you DIDN'T change your mind about going to Europe to find Buffy, with the only clue that you had, "Somewhere in Europe, last I heard," from Angel, where would you start your search?
 
Let's see. Destiny is before TGIQ so no knowledge about her being in Italy. So if there's no rumours what so ever to go by I'd probably start in Great Britain or Norherna Ireland. Why? First stop coming from America and then just continue working your way through Europe. No point in travel back and forth through Europe if you don't have to. If some rumours are picked up though you'd go by them to if for nothing else to try and pick up the trail.

I mean, why not? Spike might as well get some sightseeing in and some good food while he searches for the elusive blond. 😉
 
Spike found the Gem of Amara - hidden for several hundred of years - he'll go in research mode first, use some help from witches/wizards, listen to the words of the underworld. He'll find Andrew and decoy!Buffy in Rome. If he wouldn't be tricked by them, Spike still has the option to go to Lurky in Africa and ask him to be sent to real Buffy.
 
I'm fairly sure that when Spike was a happy go lucky a little drinky of blood here, a little there. Or when he was Buffy's plaything, he would have had a sniff or a taste of Buffy's blood. So all he would have to do and follow the scent of her blood.

England for me. Just because it's like the center of Slayers or something. Maybe Slayers are everywhere. But England makes me feel like it's the center. 😛
 
Ha good question, but i don't think he would of actually searched the whole of europe.
I agree that he would of started with England though, with Giles being english n all..
 
Considering how Giles feels about Spike, though, and the fact that he would have almost certainly have a squad of quite eager non-Spike-knowing young Slayers under his command, it might be more prudent to leave the old Librarian completely alone and ignorant of his presence. It wouldn't sit well with Buffy, regardless of her personal feelings toward him, to have Spike wring a few Slayer necks, even in self defense.

So yeah i think Spike would go to England to search for Buff, and have a blast doing it too. Quiet why Buffy would go there is another question. I mean spike doesn't yet know she's in Italy does he. Not until the episode "The Girl In Question", does he and Angel find that out.
So being Spike(And an english boozing hooligan to boot), He would search the home country first.
Maybe feeling she would visit whats left of the Watchers Council, or if Giles is there she would visit him.

I dunno, the platinum one is a strange one isn't he. He could even go to visit The Queen, lol.
 
I would probably start in England, if I were Spike. Giles and Willow were both familiar with it and that was where the Watcher's Council was originally located, so I'd assume that would have been one of their first stops. I'd start from London and see if I could pick up any signs of them there. Plus, Spike was British right? No place like home to start a long search!

Once I got over there and realised that the Scoobies were nowhere to be found, I'd probably head to the closest Hellmouth so I suppose that would take me over to Cleveland. And hopefully by the time I got there and noticed a lack of Buffy, I'd be able to ask around the demon population about where the Slayers are hanging out these days. In all honesty I don't think I'd ever think to look in Italy (or Scotland, for that matter!)

'Ere yor pushing yor luck entcha? Knowing Spike's from England is one thing, but getting him to admit he's a nancy boy is something else. About the nearest hellmouth, try looking at the southwest of England; that is known as The Devils Country.
If Spike's going to visit the Cleveland hellmouth, logic would dictate that he would stop there on his way from the West Coast, since there are no direct flights from LA to Europe anyhow. He could check out Cleveland, and make contact with anyone who knew him there, during the layover. That's assuming, of course that he knew that there was a hellmouth there. As far as I can recall, the onlt time that it was mentioned was by Giles, and that was after Sonnydale became a crater. Spike might not even know that it exists.
 
I agree with all those who said England. After all, The Watcher's Council was stationed there, so why not start his search for Buffy there? Even though The Watcher's Council itself was long gone, he might have been able to sniff out some leads.
