Are there any songs you feel you can totally identify with?

A good friend of mine recently posted a female cover version of The Offspring's Self-Esteem ([ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_TYMAfdqF8"]Self Esteem - The Offspring - Cover by Kathleen June - YouTube[/ame]) on my fb page. It reminded her completely of my life and a reoccuring very unhealthy relationship with a guy, which is exactly like the song describes.

I really feel like I could be singing this and I can't get through the song without tearing up just because it's esactly how I feel.
It kinda feels good to have a song you can just completely relate to, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one and other people can understand why I do the things I do, especially since A LOT of my friends completely lack any understanding for while I let this said guy keep using me and why I don't just cut him out.

Do you guys have any songs like that, that are just so completely true to you?

I'd say Astronaut, from Simple Plan.

I've been a rejected ever since 6th grade, so I can totally relate and I often feel like i don't belong anywhere, even in when I'm with my own family.

I like that Simple Plan so frequently write songs about their fans and about how life is as a teen/young adult.

No. What means yes. It's depending on my mood. There are certain songs but they change. Sometimes they come back like this song which I can identify very good with myself. Right now it's this song:

I just thought about this the other day! 🙂 There are 2 songs that I feel really speaks to me, like every word could've been written about my life.

The first one is a tegan and sara song called "I know, I know, I know". Me and my husband had a long distance relationship for a year and a half (he moved to me this fall) and when I first heard this song I was on a tram and actually started crying because it said everything I was feeling at the time. It still says a lot about our relationship, but not all of it anymore 🙂

The second song is a swedish rap song and it's really surprising that I like it so much, because 1. I'm not in to hiphop and 2. I don't like this artist (he has written a lot of sexist lyrics before). But I have seriously never gotten through this song without crying. I know most of you won't understand anything of it, but I'm going to post it anyway. It's hard to describe the lyrics, but it's pretty much about being working class and how you can feel that you fight so hard and still you are standing still and that life didn't turn out the way you thought it would. I grew up really poor and I always think of my mum and where I grew up and how proud I am of my background when I hear this. It is a hopeful song too. It's really beautiful. I wish you could understand it. 🙂

Ha, not to go all dark and twisty on you:

When my uncle died, I was so upset and thought I'd never get over it, I remember lying on the floor of my bedroom, listening to this, it was from his own collection.
It was so comforting, an made me realise that I wasn't in a little bubble, people would understand that I was sad and (selfish as it may seem) I was glad that other people had felt like that before, and could identify with my own sadness.

This song starts playing in my head whenever I feel myself sinking into a deep depression...

sooo 75% of the time, I can identify with it. Haha but I'll usually try to cheer myself up after I listen to it, by listening to this 😀

I love this thread....or any thread that has to do with music. 😀

Words cannot even begin to express how much I identify with this song. The first time I heard it, I was taken by surprise at how much I related to it. By the end of the song, I couldn't hold back the tears any longer. This song hit me like a ton of bricks, and I will never relate to any song more than this one. Never.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD9xK9smth4&feature=youtube_gdata_player"]Hole - Doll Parts[/ame]

This is another song that speaks to me. I've never heard more simple and honest lyrics in my life. I've never had a real, legitimate relationship before. Sure, I've had flings and encounters, but every time I felt like I was getting close to someone, it seemed like they went out of their way to make me feel low. It was like I was completely unworthy. I felt like this inanimate object, a doll people liked to play with. "Doll eyes, doll mouth, doll legs." Sometimes I wish that "someday, they will ache like I ache."

Of course, I'm not all down and out. I'm a generally happy person. But those songs, among many others that I cant mention all at once, never fail to bring me to my knees.

Depends on my mood but both these songs fit me perfectly for very different reasons. Just listen to the words.

I have a ton of songs that I identify with, I love music and some songs just... it just feels when you listen to them y'know. 🙂

But I'm only gonna post one of them, and I think it'll be familiar to most of you... I love this song so much, can't even explain it.
