Song in 'Tabula Rasa'

Now I know the song at the end of 'Tabula Rasa' as Tara moves out and Giles is on the plane back to England is 'Goodbye To You' by Michelle Branch. What I want to know is did they re-record it for this episode? I heard the song at work tonight and could swear it was different from the version heard in the episode.

Does any one have the album version (or whatever version they would play on the radio)? Is it different or am I just crazy?

I got the album with it on, and I think the only reason it sounds different is because she did it 'live' for Buffy. Not in a studio. 🙂

Hmm... in most shows that include club scenes, there is no sounds execpt for the actors talking. They edit in sound, such as talking and bands playing. That why in some episodes you see close up of bands and their movements don't match the song.

When I heard the sng for the first time I couldn't get it out of my head so I got my boyf to download it for me and his version must have been an album version as they are both very different, but great either way.

Ok, thinking about this I watched the featurette on the music from the season four set. On there it was said that they film band scenes like a music video, meaning that the band lip synchs to a playback of the song. It was also said that sometimes they ask a band to re-record a song; in one instance to get a softer version of a song. I guess they did this in this case to ramp up the emotional effect of Tara and Giles leaving.

there is also two different versions of the song, the acoustic version (as heard in buffy - dunno if it was made specifically for that tho) and the other version. In my opinion the acoustic version is better.

Yeah I agree. I have both and the acoustic one is better. Sadder somehow.

Yes, most people have practically answered this question for you but I would like to say too, that is is because she performed LIVE on the stage instead or recording it in a studio or the song being altered on the radio.
