Songs that remind you of a certain 'ship

"Yellow" by Coldplay seems very fitting for Spike and Drusilla as does "Stay With Me" by You Me At Six, along with "I Miss You" by Blink-182. Or maybe just the one line.

"We'll have Halloween on Christmas"

As much as it pains me to say it, "Leave Out All The Rest" by Linkin Park has a very Bangel-y feel to it

Lovin this thread! Ok:

Every time I hear "Dirty Little Secret" by All American Rejects, I always think about Xander and Cordelia in the beginning of their relationship: sneaking in closets, not telling their friends out of shame. Pretty funny!

"End Game" by (ironically enough) Anthony Stewart Head has always reminded me of G/J. The song is so sad, with almost stream of consciousness lyrics about losing the one you love and having so much left undone and unsaid. You can speculate that Giles and Jenny never consummated their relationship, or at least he never told her that he loved her. And she died when so much was left unresolved that the lyric, "wasn't meant to happen like this, need more time to make things right" always tugged at my heart strings. I could go on, but I'll stop myself.

Oddly enough, if I ever figured out how to make a fanvid, I would make one for Buffy and Spike to "Sugar, We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy and here's why: The whole song has a lot of lyrics that remind of images from Buffy and Spike.

Am I more than you bargained for yet
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear
Cause that's just who I am this week
Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
(A notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song)

---> Totally could use shots from I Was Made To Love You when Spike and Buffybot were having sex in the cemetery, and how he would say or do anything for her to give him a chance, but realizing that at least during their sexual relationship, she didn't really love him and he was just "another notch."

Drop a heart, break a name
We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team

---> Spike is on the "wrong" team: evil

We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it

---> For the chorus, I'd use shots from Fool For Love with Spike holding the shotgun, so ready to just kill Buffy and be done with it. And in "Conversations With Dead People," Buffy is told she has a superiority complex, so that could be seen in the "God complex" bit, but it is more personified through Spike with the loaded shot gun.

Is this more than you bargained for yet
Oh don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet
Wishing to be the friction in your jeans
Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
(Notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song)

---> The scene in "Chosen" where Spike watches as Buffy and Angel embrace would go great with the second line. And I'd end the vid with little clips of them, being all hateful, tension building, but ending it with that very soft, yet powerful sigh they both share together on Buffy's porch at the end of Fool For Love.

I know that's a lot, but to answer the question: Yes, when I hear songs I think of Buffy ships 🙂

You should make that vid, that'd be so good!
'Cut here' by The Cure always reminds me of Buffy and Angel. What it's like seeing someone you loved for so long when you're no longer in each others lives. How hard it is to say goodbye when you still love them. Particularly I imagine it's how Angel feels after the whole I Will Remember You debacle

Especially these parts

So we meet again! and I offer my hand
All dry and English slow
And you look at me and I understand
Yeah it's a look I used to know
Three long years.. and your favourite man..
Is that any way to say hello?"
And you hold me... like you'll never let me go

It's so hard to think It ends sometime
And this could be the last
I shoulda really heard you sing again
I shoulda really watched you dance
Because it's hard to think
I'll never get another chance
To hold you.. to hold you..

And over my shoulder as I walk away
I see you give that look goodbye..
I still see that look in your eye..

But how many times can I walk away and wish "If only..."
But how many times can I talk this way and wish "If only..."
Keep on making the same mistake
Keep on aching the same heartbreak
I wish "If only..."

But "If only...."
Is a wish too late...

I always think of Bangel when I hear this old classic:

The one that I always thought about when anticipating the Buffy/Spike reunion:

For Buffy and BOTH of her vampire boyfriends:

(Old songs, I know, but then, I'm an old man)

There are loads of songs which remind of ships but i'll narrow it down to a few:
Bangel-Black Black Heart by David Usher and Who Am I To Say by Hope
Spuffy-Stripped by Shiny Toy Guns and Closer by Burn Season
Fuffy-Perfect Enemey by t.A.T.u and Revenge by Plain White T's

Burn Season <3
I always thought Mumford and Sons, Little Lion Man, was a really good song for Spike as far as Buffy goes.

I love Mumford and Sons! and that is a good song for Spike and Buffy :)
Bangel: Stateless - Bloodstream or Trading Yesterday - Love Song Requiem comes to mind.
Faith/Angelus: Florence And The Machine - Kiss With A Fist and Jason Walker - Down.

I just remembered another one. Tell Me Why- Taylor Swift is total Spuffy seasons 5 and 6.

"So Close" from Enchanted actually reminds me of all of Buffy's relationships (except Parker, lol)

You're in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I'm with you
So close to feeling alive

(This verse reminds of Bangel at the prom)

A life goes by
Romantic dreams must die
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I want is to hold you
So close

(This verse reminds of Briley)

So close to reaching that famous happy ending
Almost believing this one's not pretend
And now you're beside me and look how far we've come
So far we are so close

(This verse reminds of Spuffy in "Touched")

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We're so close
To reaching that famous happy ending
Almost believing this one's not pretend
Let's go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

(And of course, this whole verse reminds me of Spuffy, with their last scene together in "Chosen')

That's perfect
That Bruno Mars song "Grenade" reminds me of Spuffy. It's a song about how he'd go though all this pain and protect this girl with all he had, but She didn't feel the same for him.

And "Dirty Little Secret" by the All American Rejects reminds me of them too. I made a banner for that.

"Viva Forever" by the Spice Girls reminds me if Bangel. I love that song. It's all about star crossed lovers.

Oh, but she did feel the same (lol) ;)

I always think of Xander and Cordelia for Dirty Little Secrets
I just realized how much One Thing, an unreleased song by Taylor Swift reminds me of Sanctuary.

Here are the lyrics (keep in mind, since it's unreleased, I wrote the lyrics down by listening to the song, so if you have it and you listen to it, you might hear something different, but this is pretty much what I think it is)

It wasn’t just like a movie
The rain didn’t soak through my clothes
Down to my skin

I’m driving away
And I guess you could say
This is the last time I’ll drive this way again

And there’s nothing to say
And I try to grab at the fray
‘Cause I still love you
But I can’t

Bye bye
To everything I thought was on my side
Bye bye baby
I want you back but it’s coming down to nothing
And all you have is to walk away
From the one thing I thought would never leave me

A picture frame is empty
It’s black and white
You’re smiling down at me
I take your photo off the dash

And back to the conversation
We’re so sure of everything
Everything we thought we’d always have

Lost in the sound of it
The here and the now comes in
Seems like I’m becoming part of your past

Bye bye
To everything I thought was on my side
Bye bye baby
I want you back but it’s coming down to nothing
And all you have is to walk away
From the one thing I thought would never leave me

There’s so much that I can’t touch
You’re all I want
But it’s not enough this time
And I can feel you like you’re slipping through my hands
And I’m so scared of how this end

Bye bye
To everything I thought was on my side
Bye bye baby
I want you back but it’s coming down to nothing
And all you have is to walk away
From the one thing I thought would never leave me

Bye bye
To everything I thought was on my side
Bye bye baby
I want you back but it’s coming down to nothing
And all you have is to walk away
From the one thing I thought would never leave me
Yeah there was one thing I knew would never leave me

It wasn’t just like a movie
The rain didn’t soak though my clothes
Down to my skin

Of course youd choose a Taylor song!
Our Time Is Running Out by Muse just screams S6 Spuffy. Almost all the lyrics fit the love hate relationship they shared.

The verses speak for themselves for Buffy's case but I think the chorus goes well for Spike refusing to let his love for Buffy die, no matter how badly they treat each other.

Muse karma!
YES, Grenade totally reminds me of Spuffy.

Also, The Way I Loved You by Taylor Swift reminds me of Angel/Buffy/Riley. You know, Riley's the guy that's all perfect and sensible and stuff but she'll never love him like Angel.

I adore your banner. The lyrics work very well for that moment. :)
Spuffy theme song? Theme songs for btvs relationships

Im curious to see how people see their relationship and the relationships of other characters also.

I personally have been listening to the song scars by papa roach alot and it really reminds me of the buffy and spike romance.

So if you had to pick one song to be the theme song for specific relationships on the show what would they be?

Buffy & Spike : Scars-Papa Roach
Buffy & Angel
Buffy & Riley
Xander & Anya
Xander & Cordelia
Willow & Xander
Willow & Oz
Willow & Tara

Sorry if I forgot some.... Feel free to add any.

I was on the bus and Life Less Ordinary by Carbon Leaf came on and I realized it's SO Spuffy from Spike's side. Just a more upbeat take on it.
