I was hoping to get something to help me make up my mind. Books by those two authors are "hit or miss." I see the potential for it to be both.
Ethan is in it, and from what I skimmed, it wasn't some cheap cameo for marketing. What about Amy Madison?
And I can get the last book, but I don't think the two before it are there. Will that make a difference in how I'd like it? That is, would I be lost just reading the last book of the Gatekeeper Trilogy?
If it went into the families of those we normally don't see (Cordelia, Xander, Willow, etc) that would be a minor point in its favor. (I did glean stuff about Joyce which, from what I saw, was a mark in its favor that made me want to read more.)
It appeared like it was about to go into comic book mode in how intense this was, and I didn't want to spoil myself for the end. I got the impression that it was at least Poltergeist level (entering other dimensions and getting lost in them), and at least threatening something like The Mist or Nightworld, which is the end of the world. Did it really go that far? If so, for how long? A little is fine, I'm not sure I'm up for a big focus on it. (Maybe...)
I'm going to check the library later, and if they can get it, great. If not, I should still be able to buy it. I just don't know if I'll have buyer's remorse soon after.
