I recently watched the movie TiMER which is about a device that counts down to the day you meet that special someone. It got me thinking, if you had the choice would you use such a device? Would you want to know who your soul mate is? Do you believe in a soul mates?

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!

Anyway...I've been asking myself that question since I watched that movie on Netflix like a year ago or so. I'm still not sure if I would want to use a device like that.

At any rate, yes, I do believe in soulmates...But I don't necessarily believe they are ALWAYS lovers, nor do I believe that EVERYONE has one.

No. I don't believe in souls or destiny or anything like that. I think some people are definitely better suited to each other than others but I don't think there's anything 'mystical' to it (couldn't think of a better word).

It would be a bit depressing if so though imo, the idea that there's only one person who you're perfect for in a world of 7 billion, the odds are that you may not even meet them.

The woman who plays Halfrek is in it too.
That's a cool idea. I don't believe in soulmates though. And even if I did, it really wouldn't matter to me if I knew I'm going to meet them in two minutes or in two years. I simply wouldn't care about that.

On the other hand, I agree with SlayerOfVampyrs that the concept of soulmates doesn't always mean the soulmates are always lovers. Because if this thing is real, I believe my dog is my soulmate (don't laugh), I have a connection with her that I don't have and never had with anyone ever, it's something beyond love and feelings.

But it's nice to think that I could be James Masrsters' soulmate 😀

Last line is the best!
I love the idea of a soulmate and I like to believe there is one for everyone out there somewhere. But, I would not like a count down to when I meet them as I think it would effect how you treated people. I've not seen the movie by the way.

I don't believe in soulmates.
Like others have said, I believe there's people who are better suited to each other, but I don't think two people are "destined" for each other.

I do believe in soul mates, but I don't believe in the "bolt out of the blue," two eyes lock across a crowded room and suddenly they just KNOW kind of soul mate. I believe that people gradually become soul mates as they interact and come to know each other on the deepest, most intimate (and I'm obviously not just referring to sex here) level. Total strangers can't be soul mates.

This sort of illustrates what I'm trying to say:

I think you are my soulmate.

I don't think I would use this device, but I would be tempted out of curiousity. 😛

But like SlayerOfVampyrs said, I do believe in soulmates, but I don't believe your soulmate always has to be your romantic other. This is what I believe in...

Good quote
I always thought this was a nice image: "Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies" - Aristotle.

As much as I don't believe in it, it does feel that way when you're on the same wavelength as someone at times.
