God I love this show.

I recently bought season 8 and though I have seen most seasons, this is probably my favourite.

Episodes it includes:

Good times with Weapons
The Jeffersons
Awesom-O
Douche and Turd
Goobacks
Christmas Critters

AND more that are just as hilarious.

Do you like South Park?

I watched Douche and Turd this morning and it is BRILLIANT and though it was made in 2004 is perfect for the current voting frenzy.


For those who don't know the episode, it starts with The School being told by PETA that they condone animal cruelty because they have a Mascot of a cow (not even a Cow, it is a man in a suit).

Well this leads to there being an election called for a new Mascot. The choices are A Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich.

Stan really doesn't see the point of voting for either so is shunned by the Towns people.

This leads him to live with PETA in the forests where it turns out they are so crazed with Animals rights that they don't particularly care about humans AND that they share more than land space with Gods creatures.

After PETA are destroyed by P Diddy and ALL the animals can live free without the PETA members 'loving' them, Stan realises that even though the choice if a Douche and Turd, generally this is who are being elected.

He votes and the decisions are made.

I love it, its a great episode ESPECIALLY as I love politics and agree with everything in this - including the destruction of PETA.

Hilarious.

Man, i end up watchin SP on MTV or Paramount almost every night, im just too addicted to it. Its even managed to take over the Simpsons as my favorite cartoon ever, and thats sayin somethin.
But if i was to list all the funny Cartmund moments it would take up about a million words, so i wont even bother.
But yeah, I LOVE SOUTH PARK.

Cartman is indeed my favourite character because quite frankly I want to BE him.

I also love Butters 'Oh Hamburgers'.

I love the show and you are correct, to write Cartmans best would take all the bandwith of this site.

The jeffersons is one of the best ever! i loved how they didnt just rip michael but the police and there bias towards african americans.

plus you got cartman singing with michael jackson and the "ive got your nose"

i still aint picked any of them up on dvd yet, kinda waiting for the price to go down and the fact ive seen them already so i can wait. but ive loved this show since it began.

personally i love the kyle/cartman feud... and i was bummed when i couldnt find or youtube had taken off the buffy southpark (not southpark characters looking like buffy peeps, but southpark dubbed over buffy so anya singing the jew song at willow is HI-larious)
 
What is great about The Jeffersons is the commentary.

You actually find out that Matt and Trey didn't make up some of Michaels lines, instead they ripped them straight from an interview with Martin Bashir - which is brilliant because that means Jacko actually said some of that crap!!!

Ohh and apparently the scene where Cartman and 'Mr Jefferson' nearly kiss in the bed actually ended with them kissing for about 30 seconds but the studio made Matt and Trey edit it.

Thats awesome.
 
i watched that interview when it was first shown on tv here... i was scared, very scared!

whats the name of the ep with jennifer lopez and the taco flavoured kisses? that song gets totally stuck in my head... and one of my favs...

and the country kitchen buffet ep.... grey dawn is it called?
 
I love South Park, and I was sad enough to get a tattoo of Cartman as the tooth fairy on my foot. Love Awesum-o
 
I heart Family Guy. When it comes to South Park though I think some of my most favorite stuff is from earlier seasons. I did love Imagination Land though. Now that was hilarity incarnate.
 
I love South Park.. My favorite must be Awsome-O and Good times with weapons of the one on the list... I just love Butters..

The Simpsons did it is also funny 😀

I dont watch South Park, I have seen some episodes though.

I also don't watch the Simpsons, Family Guy, Futarama and pretty much anything else that's cartoony. I have seen episodes from all 3, or all 4. (Mostly the Simpsons.)

I don't really see anybody being able to convert me, to spend my time watching any of these shows. However from the little I have seen of them all, I formed, obviously, some sort of opinion.

Futurama - I just didnt like at all. To me it seemed completely pointless, and largely unfunny.

Family Guy - I just can't stand. Not only is it completely unfunny it also has absolutely nothing to say. Nothing of value, no intelligence to it, just basically unrelated random attempts at humour, one after the other.

The Simpsons - I think doesn't have much to say at all. Its just basically humour. Which fortunately, unlike the previous two, it is capable of. So I label it as sometimes funny, but not enough to warrant spending valuable time watching.

South Park - Probably the most vulgar of the four, it surely must contain the most profanity and crude subject matters. Of the four, from what I have seen, I think this show whilst not only possessing the gift of humour, also has the most to say. It has the most because it has an opinion, and it often gets it across, sometimes very subtly, which I imagine is completely lost on a lot of people.


To sum up, don't watch South Park, or anything else of similar .. 'genre?' but I think its the most valuable of the four. And I don't feel the need to critizise anyone else for watching it. I just don't feel it has enough punch, or weight, to merit me spending what little time I do have, to watch it, and unless someone can convince me otherwise, this is how I shall remain.
 
Well Schillaci, far be it from me to attempt to try and convert you, but I would suggest IF you find yourself with some free time, you should watch an episode or two.

The better ones are the ones that take something on, something like Imagination Land (three episodes) or Douche and Turd.
Tom Cruises episode is quite funny as well.

BUT if you're not interested in the show, there really is no point trying to convince.
 
I wasnt interested in Buffy either, but somehow I started watching that. Why do you watch South Park? Is it all about the humour, because it seems to me that, the humour of south park might be a one trick pony. Specifically about trying to shock people with having some pretty gross themes, or taking what is considered a pretty important social problem and showing the absurdity of it all.

Is it really worth watching it? I mean, whats the point of this topic? Is it just to say "I like South park, who else likes it?" or do you want to convince other people to watch it? I can't not question things, motivations, if you just want to share your love of south park, then carry on.

Truth is, i'm pretty open minded, its relatively easy for somebody to change my opinion, if thats not your intention, or you don't want to spend the energy, thats cool. I would love to discuss my love of a show with other people though. Its so easy to critizise things, especially today where there are lots of highly paid jobs designed to do just that.

I guess what I'm really asking is, is it REALLY worth my time to watch this show?
 
I've not watched South Park for YEARS. But it has some amazingly funny episodes. Anything with Towelie in it is hilarious. I like how the creators 'get away with' so much, completely taking the piss out of certain celebrities, it's brilliant.
 
Schillaci, yes it is. Well actually that depends on how much you can stand its coarse nature.

It is crass, vulgar and at times leaves you staring in disbelief, but its a satirical show underneath. Theres so much fun to be had making fun of celebrities, politics, popular trends, South Park just goes the extra mile and is less forgiving.

Want to know the REAL reason I started this thread?

OK, I was talking to another member in PM's and it turns out we have a PETA fanatic on this board.

While I do agree with treating animals correctly, I also think that activists that take things to extremes are crazy - hence the episode I discussed was Douche and Turd as that pretty much slams politics and PETA.

I know, I am juvenile and now it is out it will probably see this thread closed, but I wanted fun at someones expense...maybe I AM Cartman?

Having said that while the humour is something I adore in Southpark, what I really like is the fact thta each episode takes 6 days to do and is always just a week ahead so that gives it the ability to really tackle current issues.

I also love the fact that it tackles moral issues in an absurd way, showing the reaction of the people to a certain degree then allowing you the chance to think 'wow, ok maybe they are right' but then generally banging THAT opinion out of the ball park and telling you to make your own mind up.

While I formulate my own opinions, as I would imagine you do Schillaci, I know alot of people that believe what they are told so this is refreshing.

Another thing I like about Southpark is the fact that their position isn't always clear.

Take the episode 'Goobacks' for example.

The two 'leaders' of the opposing sides are a 'Conservative Redneck' and a 'Hippie Liberal Douche'.
The Douche and Turd one is the same.

They actually wrote Douche and Turd because Sean Penn wrote them a letter condemning them because Matt and Trey said they wouldn't be voting (Bush vs Kerry 04) because they liked neither candidate.
What pissed them off wasn't that he said it was their responsibility to vote and to encourage others to vote for who they believe, it was that Sean Penn told them it was their reponsibility to get Bush out of office and get their viewers to as well.

I love the fact they just write an episode based on someone pissing them off.


OHHH and Cartman is the greatest TV creation ever.
