Spander VS Xangel

LOL, I don't usually go for these shipping battles, but here it is, which ship is more interesting?

Xander/Spike or Xander/Angel?

Personally, I find Xander and Spike closer to each other in terms of personalities and character. They were the ones with unrequited love for Buffy, the ones who said, "Screw prophecies" and went to save her life, they're the underdogs. They also hide behind fake facades: Xander hides behind jokes and Spike hides behind the bad boy attitude and make up.

Besides, Xander and Spike have the snark, which is why they're so much fun to watch.
 
I'm also going with Spander.

Xangel is barely even hinted at, the only time, imo, being that under-his-arm thing in School Hard.

On the other hand, Spander was a complex and fun relationship with lots of hints: They spent some time just hangin' out together, after all, Spike's more more or less Xander's only male friend.

Xander would always rant his problems to Spike, like in Triangle.

They work together well, like in Him.

Xander thinks that Spike is "Strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well-muscled.", as proven in Intervention.

Xander thinks that Spike is hot, judging by the way he was totally checking him out in Gone. :biggrin3:

Xander wants Spike to think he's "nummy", and Spike agrees, as said in Hush.

They had fun being roommates. :tongue3:

Their relationship developed over the years. :smile3:

They have special nicknames for each other. (Pet names, one might say 😀 )

And, overall, they're just snarky and fun to watch. :biggrin3:

(Although, just sayin', I love Spangel more. 🙂 )
 
Spander, of course. I don't ship them, but I think it's as interesting as Spangel(which is so popular). And they lived in the same house sometimes in S4 and S7. (sw)

My favorite Spander quote would be "Look me in the eyes and tell me when you saw Buffy alive, it wasn't the happiest moment of your entire existence."
 
I've always thought that Xander's avowed hatred and distrust of Angel was just a facade hiding much more lusty feelings. Just look closely at his eyes in "School Hard" when Angel had his arm around him. The heat was just bubbling there. And of course, anyone with eyes to see can tell that Angel was only pretending to be interested in Buffy so that he could be close to Xander.

Now I don't think that's the last time Xander has a go at Angel or Spike for allegedly eyeing up his neck. My imagination might be running away with me now, but it all sounds a bit "latent" to me.

Ooooh, I also love that Spike stated that he prefers drinking Xander's blood over eating onion rings, and we all know how much Spike loves onion rings. 😉

When did he say that? To my knowledge, Spike has said that he wouldn't have even bothered to bite Xander if he didn't have a chip/soul, like in Hush, and another episode that I can't quite remember:

Spike: "I don't see why I have to be tied up"
Xander: "It's just while I'm sleeping"
Spike: " Like I'd bite you anyway"
Xander: "oh you would"
Spike: " not bloody likely"
Xander: "I happen to be very biteable pal. I'm moist and delicious."
Spike: " alright, yeah fine you're a nummy treat."
Xander: "and don't you forget it"

Well, Xander and Angel never had some kind of relathionship, it was full of anger, and I think there would be some killing if we put them in a cage.

But, Xander and Spike, they had some funny moments, but I think Xander hated him more then he hates Angel, especially after he slept with Anya.
 
BillyidolwannaB and HisMrs, there's a reason why Xander/Spike is considered the most popular slash ship (especially with fanfiction). I guess people enjoy playing with these two, you get angst, drama, comedy, everything works with this pairing. 🙂 Plus, they're adorable together.

He would totally bite Xander. In Hush, he was upset that Xander tied him up and did nothing about it. *winks*

I don't know if 'adorable' would be the right word... LOL I know there's a lot of fanfic out there on Spander... It's just that the idea of it does not appeal to ME. LOL
 
Well, not a big fan of same-sex relationships but if I had to choose one, Spander.

In my opinion Spander would be a lot more believable than Xangel. Xander and Angel hate each other, when Angel punched Xander in the episode where he was pretending to be Angelus he did it in "Good Spirit" in other words, just for the hell of it. Sure Spike hit Xander every now and then but there was at least some kind of chemistry between those two unlike Xangel.
 
Out of those two it is definitely Xander & Spike for me. They didnt get along at times like Angel and Xander but I found them to be far more interesting. Especially when they had to live together in season 4. They are just so witty toward each other and I can't get enough of it.
 
To be honest, I thought Angel had more chemistry in his scenes with Xander than with Buffy. 😀 Also, David becomes a better actor when he's around Nicholas. Perhaps because they were good friends back then.

Agree about him having good chemistry with Brendon but for me he had amazing chemistry with Sarah aswell, maybe because they were close friends off camera.

Whenever i watch a Bangel scene i'am always totally convinced in the relationship because of how well Sarah and David work together.

I'am surprised you don't think there is chemistry there.
 
I don't really care about chemistry, it's so subjective, and using it in an argument doesn't give one any points. So, you don't have to take my words as fact. That's just how I feel.

I think Angel and Buffy have good chemistry, but I tend to enjoy Angel more when he's around Xander because new sides of him become visible. With Buffy, he's usually gloomy and depressed. With Xander, somehow he's more alive, he's funny, petty, exasperated, jealous, a jerk -new colors appear when he's around Xander, and somehow he becomes less depressed. 😀
