Spander VS Xangel

I don't really care about chemistry, it's so subjective, and using it in an argument doesn't give one any points. So, you don't have to take my words as fact. That's just how I feel.

I think Angel and Buffy have good chemistry, but I tend to enjoy Angel more when he's around Xander because new sides of him become visible. With Buffy, he's usually gloomy and depressed. With Xander, somehow he's more alive, he's funny, petty, exasperated, jealous, a jerk -new colors appear when he's around Xander, and somehow he becomes less depressed. 😀

I'am with you when you talk about him and Xander. The rare scenes they had such as in "Prophecy Girl", "School hard" or "Graduation day part 2" always bring humour to the show.

Lines such as "But i'am still key guy right", the look on Angel's face when he realises he has to team with Xander.

"you were looking at my neck", "I was not looking at your neck". :biggrin3:

There's were moments where Xander appreciated them both

If I had to pick between them both, I guess I would have to go with Spander, although Spangel is still my favorite slash pairing.

But Spander was funny, and i love that bit in s5, ummm is it intervention? i think so..

LOL, I don't usually go for these shipping battles, but here it is, which ship is more interesting?

Xander/Spike, definitely. No contest there. I completely agree.

There's a lot that can be read into their interactions, surely.

Xander/Angel does nothing for me. They're both too masculine. There's no balance. And in my opinion Xander never warmed to Angel, whereas with Spike he learned to tolerate, and dare I say, even respect him a bit.

I'm not a slash fan, but I'd rather go with Spander. Because they could be very funny together (as long as Joss doesn't mess them up 🙂

Back when I read fanfics, before I started to dislike Angel, I was equally a fan of both ships, but I enjoyed reading Spander more, since Spike is my favorite character.

But I appreciated both ships for their different qualities (as fanfic authors back then wrote them. Maybe I would feel differently about how they're portrayed today).

Angel was often possessive in a way Spike couldn't be. Spike and Xander were more equals. At the same time, Angel could be sweet in a way it wasn't always (sometimes it really was)believeable for Spike to be (even if Spike had a soul, which I can't recall him having in many or any fics I read). But Spike & Xander seem to have a more potential for a friendship than Xander & Angel. Different chemistry.

So it's hard for me to choose, even now when I dislike Angel. Could be because the Angel I dislike, post-season 3 Ats, never or rarely gets together with Xander in the fics I've read, so the ship isn't ruined, so to speak. That happens with several ships I read; if one character has changed in a way I dislike, I can't read that pairing in a same way after that change.

Now, if we were talking Xangelus, it'd be harder to choose. Then it gets dirtier. 😉

Nah, not really. That isn't actually a ship, that's a horror story, if written realisticly.

The ultimate hot gay ship is of course Spike/Xander/Angelus. Soooo hot. I don't really read those fics because they're realistic stories. I mean, that ship, written realisticly, would make me cry. Poor, poor Xander. But add some OOC fluff, and it's heaven. Anyone have a link to a fic like that? Dirty and wrong, yet fluffy Spike/Xander/Angelus?
