Spangel anyone?

I'm a Spander fan. Not really interested in Spangel for two reasons: 1) No Xander and 2) I don't ship two characters who are similar: Slayer/Slayer, Vampire/Vampire, Human/Human (Except Xander/Giles, but they're too different to be similar.) I find Xander/Dawn, Spike/Angel and Buffy/Faith to be boring ships.

I agree with the whole omnisexual idea, James' character on Torchwood got me thinking about Spike being like that. Being attracted to ... poodles.

And don't knock Spander, lol. That was my first big slash pairing, and it still rates as my number...okay, number three, lol. But a Spander fic still holds the number one spot of my favorite fanfics ever. It's a damn good read.

Not knocking Spander 😛! just always found I could never really get into it. I'm more into two vampires constantly in denial while saving the world kinda stuff. YEAH.

I ship spangel pretty hardcore. I believe that they are the one true pairing.

They definitely hooked up when they were bad and they carry that chemistry and spark all the way through to the end of angel season 5.

I believe that deep down they truly loved each other, and really wanted the best for each other. I believe that a successful relationship has certain factors. Chemistry, common ground, similar life long goals, and the power to test and push each other. Spangel definitely has all those things and plenty more.

I can imagine angel being all in denial about it and trying to blame it on magic of some sort. I guess in a way it would be similar to spuffy season 6, but with spike insisting he's just using angel. I could see Wesley and Fred being supportive of the relationship and being the ones to encourage the boys to admit their feelings.

Damn, how I wish this could happen 🙁 they're most definitely in denial, they have so much in common. Seeing them so close in season 5 of Angel (with vast amounts of sexual tension) was infuriating! I was literally sat there the whole time saying "Kiss, kiss..."

There is soooo much I like about Spangel, and not just the sexual tension. Prophecygrrl said it best:

But there were some really tender, deep moments in season 5 (scene at the end of Damage, trying to save Fred in A Hold in the World etc) that really add to their individual characters & storylines. You can't fully understand one without seeing all that history with the other (well, all 4 of the FF actually).

See, but they're not similar, and thus the conflict/attraction! And it's not just because Angel's had a soul for so much longer than Spike. Their personality & way of looking at things has always been vastly different. Of course their complex relationship with Buffy and each other adds to that (and Drusilla before that).

Plus, they're just plain damn fun and hot! 😀

Got this theory that all vamps can be bisexual anyway, oh the fanfiction.. *swoon*

Most definitely! I have no doubt in my mind that as unsouled vamps they had more than a single moment together!

I completely agree. Season 5 isn't particularly my favourite either, it's just the pure fact that there's so much Spangelness, you end up having to watch it more than the others. 😛 .. my view anyway.

I love the deep moments you speak of. Especially in a Hole in the World, there's something about hearing Angel say Spike's name with such tenderness that makes you just want to hug them both. Then slap them for not making out or something. I mean, honestly guys, COME ON.

I'm merely kidding! I do see where you're coming from, and you provide a good point. Angel must have had some love for Spike, and Spike for Angel, otherwise one of them would be a pile of dust. I see the whole Sire/Childe thing being quite prominent in that situation, with Angel always being quite protective of Spike. For example, in A Hole in the World, Angel told Spike he'd give him the resources to leave Wolfram & Hart because he thought Spike was becoming too attached to it as part of some sort of evil plan created by Lindsey. He wouldn't have even bothered telling him to leave if he didn't care about him at least a little.

So with the whole friendship/platonic love thing, I completely agree with you mate. 🙂

I am a Spuffy and more than that a Cangel but I really love Spangel. I don't even think in a romantic way just a friendship way. I think their scenes were always so strong and I find the two of them to be the best duo. I love both Angel and Spike so much so it was good to have them together and all that goodness.
