I am just appalled by the idea of some movie theaters installing a play area INSIDE the theater. I mean, outside of I can see, but inside, having a jungle gym and play area inside the theater is just idiotic in my opinion. I mean seriously...

Thank you for reminding me why I hate movie theatres. I'd like to hope this was a 'parent and child only' theatre, but who knows. Maybe teach children to sit still and have some goddamn patience when in a theatre. Or don't take them until they actually understand what other people are and why they don't appreciate your screaming.

This is a great idea. There should be one of these screens at all big cinemas. It's great for people who can't get a babysitter but insist on paying a fortune to bring loud irritating children to the cinema with them. This should also work as a relegation screen for adults. If you can't cope with watching a film without speaking loudly, texting or being so drunk you wander around with one shoe in your hand and your trousers down then you have to go to kiddies zoo screen in future.

Aren't they missing the point of going to watch a movie? If your child can't watch a movie without having a full playground to distract them then surely they don't understand what a film is.

I think there's better ways to make money for cinemas, rather than charging exasperated parents an extra 3 bucks. Go to a park, they're free.

It looks like it would get sticky. And that smell, kinda plastic and poop? Perhaps more effective behind glass.

I think a foam pit at the front is the way to go. The foam might muffle some noise. They are in front easy to be checked on, foam cant really hurt them, no matter how hard its ditched at their heads.

And in the night screenings, it could be a mischief pit for the over 18's.

Could even get the kids to clean it. First movie of the day half price, if the kids go treasure huntin' !

Its funny how most families lament the excessive prices to go to the movies as is, adding $3 more to a ticket- bumping the average ticket price to $11- doesn't seem like it would be the best way to entice the horde.

Who came up with this and why are they trying to reinvent the wheel? They should just do what IKEA has done, and have a kids center to drop the urchins off at while you go about your business.

I am not sure I would want some AMC flunky watching my kid while I'm on the other side of the multiplex watching the IMAX. Even more I think people could actually walk off with kids and it be easier than you would think. Unless they have like IDs or something.

This is just a terrible, terrible idea.
Who is this supposed to please? Parents taking their children to a movie want their kids to- presumably- sit quietly and loose themselves in a fantasy world for a couple of hours- giving the parents a somewhat quiet night out. This is easier than ever with tons of animated movies and Disney pics out now.

And what about the kids who actaully want to see the movie but get distracted by all the great honking neon lights and other children laughing and screaming as they arse around on a climbing frame? They end up hating their little brother or sister who can't slurp their drink and sit quietly.
We can't have parents actually 'parent' their children anymore.


Still, I agree with @The Bronze - this is a good place to send people who are completely inconsiderate to other movie-going patrons; the ones who text constantly and talk loudly. Maybe they can go play on the kiddie slide?
