A couple things to ponder...

If Spike is a vampire, he isn't supposed to feel pain. Why does he feel the headache pain with the chip?
And why doesn't the chip activate when he goes after those humans in the cemetary during his song in the musical episode?

Why shouldnt he feel pain?

As for the second question, he wasnt intending to hurt them.

Yeah I don't think it has ever been said that vampire's don't feel pain, They just have a high threshold for it.

And I agree with Wolf on the second question.

Yeha vampires feel pain, it just doesn't bother them that much. I guess since the Initiative knew quite a lot about vampires, they knew how much and what kind of pain they had to cause vampires in order for it to be too much for them to take?

Yeah, I agree with the above posts. Vampires can most definitely feel pain...we see Angel in pain a lot. 🙂 And he was just trying to scare those people in the cemetary, IMO.

Ha, the opening question here should include 'Why could Spike attack the Initiative Humans as he escaped in the first place?'. The ones you have had us 'ponder' are exactly what people have said.

Oh also in season 1 of Angel the telekinetic girl threw a metal pipe through Angels shoulder, and he said something like "You can't hurt me" Then when she leaves he falls over and says "OK she can hurt me a little"
