I just thought that it would be nice to have a thread about Spike and Angel that wouldn't mutate into a "my vamp can beat your vamp" contest.

Assuming that Spike had somehow been able to feed off of Caleb the way that Angel did on Hamilton, especially after Caleb got his recharge of power just before the end, do you think that he would have become supercharged too?

There's no real way to know, but I would go with yes, I'm sure Caleb talks about the power given to him being in every fibre of his being, in a similar way that Hamilton does, so I don't see why not?

Although, W&H are in reality some kind of physical being, so it makes sense that their power has a more physical basis, i.e. blood. Whereas, the First only exists metaphysically and Caleb's is an extension of the First, so it might be that the First had more control over who could wield its power, so could have stopped it from working with spike.

Additionally, Caleb's power was basically evil incarnate, so what effect would this have had on Spike, it might have allowed the First to exert some control over Spike, or at least emphasise it's evilness.

Really interesting topic. Simple answer, I don't know.

Both Caleb and Hamilton were imbued with huge levels of power given to them by higher/immortal beings. That said, Wolfram & Hart are different than The First evil. The First seems to have a real ability to corrupt and control the person under its designs, so if Spike were to feed off of Caleb, he might have fallen under that corrupting influence. Or at least, that's my theory.

I'm not so sure that that would be completely true. We saw basically decent people, specifically Lindsey and Lilah, corrupted by what the Senior Partners had to offer, and I'm pretty sure that they weren't the only ones. It could even be argued that Angel and his crew Gunn, in Season 5 became corrupted to an extent, and I'm not certain that the same thing wasn't beginning to happen with Wes (just a feeling, no real evidence to point to, except maybe the temptation of total access to the virtually limitless knowledge contained in W&H's archives) And Cordy was pretty definite about Angel losing his way thereat the end.

I'm not saying that the First Evil and Wolfram & Hart were actual allies, but their missions weren't that much different.

I always assumed (and I don't know if this has ever been clarified, so apologies if I have reached incorrect conclusions) that Hamilton, like Eve, was not human in origin, but a being created by the Senior Partners for the purpose of spying on Angel/ acting as a go-between for Angel and the Senior Partners. Therefore, aspects of him like his strength are actually physically part of him, if that makes any sense- the strength/ power granted him by W+H is in his blood, hence why Angel is able to absorb it when he drinks from him.

Caleb, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure is a normal (albeit pretty damn evil) human being, who gains his strength/ power through merging with the First on a regular basis- so whilst he uses the power, it is not part of him in the way that Hamilton's strength is part of him. I don't know, but I would assume that either a) Spike drinking from Caleb would not cause him to absorb his strength, as the power is not literally "in his blood" but part of a ... magical possession, almost? or b) If it did, the first evil would act as a corrupting influence for Spike.

But the Firsts corruption that RS is talking about is more literal, yes W&H corrupts. But the First actively corrupts, it physically enters Caleb, and it controlled Willow.

Back to the original question. No I dont think it's possible.
Firstly there's no way Spike is getting close enough.
Secondly Caleb is human, there's no reason to suggest that he was changed from a human, he was a human who was imbued with super strength from the First, but it fades and isn't part of him, the first has to re-merge with him every so often to top him up. I think it'd be normal human blood running through his veins.

Hamilton was a child of the senior partners, some form of demon made to look human, but a demon none the less.
