What an interesting conversation.

I remember watching the commentary and hearing what Joss said about that scene. I was curious at the time as to how many people believed that they had sex or did not. It's really hard to say. I agree with the many posts before that by the end of season seven, there was some more chemistry and more of a relastionship between the two. So, after anaylyzing it, I asked myself one very important question. If I was about to open the Hellmouth and potentially die, what would I do on the night before.

This has lead me to believe that something physical did happen between Buffy and Spike that night. After thinking about their night in "Touched" where they were the only couple holding each other and not engaging in anything else, that really gave them a new footing for beginning their relationship. This night of just being with each other was maybe enough to put a 'spark' back in. If this was so, I just can't imagine them having another night like that, I see their night as being more physical. Especially because of what was going to happen the next day.

It is very confusing. I wish that Joss would have just told us, because I hate speculation about these things. It was also very confusing, because of the apperance of Angel a little bit before, and Buffy's speech about not wanting to be in a relationship because she wasn't ready. Oh. Now I"m going to be thinking about this all day. Shoot!
 
i think buffy did love spike and i got that when that girl who died (i forget her name) said to Spike "someday she will tell you."
