Help Spike Costume

My husband and I are going to D*Con this year, with one of our costumes being Spike and Harmony (Don't hate 😛). We have pretty much everything situated except that he's not really a bleached blonde, and not really looking to go that way. Anybody know of a good (relatively inexpensive) wig that would work for it? Or possibly some temp color that would work? We tried one type of temp spray we heard did a good job, but it ended up looking metallic gold! D:

Hrmm... The only thing that I can think of is the fake hair spray that balding men use. It comes in a silver grey and blonde and does work quite well. It would probably work quite well if you sprayed the silver grey on first and then just a touch of the blonde to get that real platinum blonde look to it. I wouldn't recommend a wig as you'll find it difficult to get it styled right. What length is your husbands hair? And colour? Might help me come up with some ideas!

What about something like this, and then maybe trim it yourself so it's the right length and then slick it back. Viola, Captain Peroxide-approved!

And BE SURE to post pics of you and your husband in your costumes!

OH, and he's got brown hair, kinda shaggy (though he's cutting it pretty short for the costuming event).

I can't remember right now what it's called! I'll look it up when I get to work.
We just bought some white spray and some yellow spray from Party City (We're totally reaching here) in hopes some miracle of mixing will occur and it might work... *fingers crossed* Figure, with Spike's hair being all gelled back, it won't matter that it makes his hair stiff... and with his hair being so unnatural color-wise, it might work where it looks fakeish... @_@ If anyone has any other ideas, do let us know... Kthx!

Okay, I realise I'm starting to come up with some stupid ideas now... But what about talcum powder? Might at least help cover up some last browny bits?
You could always peroxide it and then dye it back afterwards? Grab some brown hair dye for when you get home? Did the white spray idea work?
 
Aaactually, yes... I was very surprised to find that this may actually be the way! We haven't figured out the exact mix of yellow and white yet, but, surprise surprise, the cheap way may be the best way. 😛
