Spike Didn't Have To Take It

Every time that I see someone slap Spike around in Seasons 4, 5, and 6, I find myself asking the same question. "Why does he just stand there?" Granted, Spike has the chip in his skull that prevents him from hurting humans, but we've seen on more than one occasion on both shows that vampires can, when they wish, move literally faster than the eye can follow, so why doesn't he just move before Xander punches him or Riley stabs him with the plastic stake? Just because he can't hit back shouldn't mean that he has to be everyone's punching bag.

And, fot that matter, Angel did the same thing several times. Just stood there while someone slugged him.

I think Spike took it because he was really in love with Buffy. If that ment puting up with the Scoobies abuse so be it. He lived along time he can take a few lumps he will heal because oh thats right he is a freaking vampire-His words
