probably i have selective memory, should rewatch those to see what you mean.'When She Was Bad'
'Some Assembly Required'
'Reptile Boy'
'Lie To Me'
'What's My Line'
'Ted'
I can point to bits in those episodes where Angel and Buffy argue or disagree (i.e challenge) and then Buffy at least gets to see his pov.
Less so in S3 but Angel was always moving on to other sthings by that time anyway.
Not to lessen the importance of Spike's journey, but i think even if the roma spell was AoE, affecting Spike along with Angel he'd felt guilt and would be repulsed by himself and ready to help out if recruited by the PTB. Maybe with a bit less swagger without two notches in his belt but still, close enough.Again, it depends on what version we're talking about since Spike was more comfortable showing his macho tough side to strangers than anything else (see Angel s5) . We just don't know how souled Spike would mainfest 'in-show' without the journeyt that took him there- all that affected his character greatly.

I understand the set-up. We just don't know how Spike would react for sure, there's a lot of supposition.
