Spike hates Angel, and Angel hates Spike... Right?

When did Spike start hating Angel?
From the flashbacks we know they started as friends. Like brothers, even. But them, many years later they hate each other, especially Spike. I'm guessing Angel started hating Spike when he got his soul back and saw Spike as an evil being, and Angel wasn't like that anymore. Is it the same point for Spike, where he started hating Angel?

There's that flashback in FFL when Spike learns what a slayer is... and they don't seem to get along then. Also Angel had sex with Dru and Spike walks in on them... and other various things... I don't think they really ever got a long. I mean those things were before Angel got his soul back...

I think he kind of always resented Angelus because Angelus is well... a bully. Putting two Alpha males together will cause friction as one gets beaten down to a 'beta' position and back when the fang gang where still together Angelus seemed quite intent on continously showing that he was the biggest fang of the two. That it was "his" gang.
So I think Spike resented him early on, being a big 'poofter' and less of a risk taker to bootl.

Also Angelus was Dru's maker.. her go-to guy... Spike must've hated that.

Then the soul bit... I don't think that warmed Spike's feelings and comparing Spike and Angel as people... well, it seems inevitable that they would end up hating each other. Partly because they don't really communicate well. And they're both trying to one-up each other all the time...

So simply put I think Spike's resentment was there from the start and grew over the years.

To me it seemed to be rare moments when they actually got along... and then it mostly seems to be because of a common foe.

In addition to Angelus and Dru having sex, they had two different philosophies on killing. Angelus wanted to be more sadistic but avoid as much attention as possible. Spike just wanted to kill for the fun of it and didn't care if he made a ruckus.

Dru was with Angelus before Spike was even known, so he really can't be all too jealous of what they may do together. It's not like she was Spike's to start with and Angelus stole her away.

I see Angelus as the big brother of the two, and Spike as the little brother who doesn't know any better. He wants to make a mess and draw attention because he knows it will annoy big brother, and he gets enjoyment out of it.

And before Spike came along, Angelus had Darla, then made Dru, which made him the leader. They killed a lot, but they stayed out of sight, for the most part, and didn't live in shady conditions. Then, Spike came along, and had them all living in sewers. Spike came into the group because Dru wanted him to, not because Angelus did. I can really see Angelus' resentment...

Spike wanted to be the leader, but he wasn't ever as thoughtful as Angelus. He did everything his blood told him to, and didn't think things through very well. I think it made Spike angry that Angelus' plans usually worked, whereas Spike's did not. We see this with the gem or Amarra.
