Help Spike in a job

I need suggestions for a career for Spike, if he needed to get a job of some kind. I've sort of been through all the ones possible for a qualificationless-vampire - bar at the Bronze, night shift at the DMP, that kind of thing; I'm looking more for ones he could take up if he turned human. What can people see him doing?

As a seperate matter, can anyone see a Spike in a fantasy universe as a chef?

How about a bouncer at a club?
Uuhh.. I like the bartender idea for him the human and the vampire, but the chef just doesn't sound plausible. I don't even think William would be a chef..
What about making him some kind of athelete? *shrug* lol I just can't figure him in a suit and tie kind of career he needs something with more braun.
 
Are you writing an AU fan fic or what? As a human, I could imagine Spike in almost any role, honestly. This personality is quite abrasive though, and he obviously doesn't do well with authority, so I think it would to be a job where he's "his own boss" if you know what I mean. Things that come to mind are; Bouncer at a club? Reporter? Somehow I could see him as some sort of tour guide. He has a way with people, and is pretty intelligent.
 
I can imagine Spike being Crazy Flakes' personal sex slave a bouncer at the Bronze. It's not necessarily because it's a nighttime vampirey thing, it's just that Spike would LOVE to bully people around with a clean conscience. Plus, I can imagine him insulting people at the door and getting into all kinds of fights.

Also, the chef idea totally made me imagine Spike in a chef hat and cheesy apron. Best mental image ever.
 
I would say private investigator, but that's Ol' Broody's thing, so maybe bodyguard or security consultant. At the other end of the spectrum, his formal schooling and obvious interest in literature might qualify him to be a literary proof reader or ghost writer. Or he could just stay at home and take care of their brood of babies while Mama Buffy goes out and earns the living.
 
What is the story about?. Has Spike just become a human, and if so do you want a humourous content in the story, such as Spike becoming a Librarian, that would provide you with several comedic situations.
Finding pictures for Xander, the occasional comment about Spike's brain working.
Where as a research assistant in a laboratory finding a cure for MS would not affect a serious story theme.

Spike as a chef in another universe? Would he be the meats chef? testing pigs meat to see if it was infected? a perk of the job would be drink all the pigs blood you want?
 
I think Spike should do something fysical, maybe he can fight for good cause or whatever? Since he's addicted to fighting..
 
How about a pro poker player.
He mentions at least once that he plays in Angel and his persona kinda fits with that.
Hes probably intelligent enough to win money from poker as well.
 
First thought that came to mind was a taxi driver. Like one of those all knowing, advice giving, crazy driving taxi guys. He'd be able to give his two cents and he'd be thoroughly entertained with all the night crawlers in his taxi. And he could still kick some ass if needed. I could see him getting in some pretty hairy situations, driving like mad all over a city, saving the day....getting into trouble! ha ha

I can see that actually...
If he wasn't so allergic to sunlight,I'd say kindergarden teacher.Or mabey teaching english to immigrants at night school.Hilarity ensues.
 
And chicken wings.He does like his chicken wings. Or mabey he could have bought Willy's and turned it into a right proper English pub.
