Question Spike in the episode Him

I just rewatched Him ( a really underratted episode btw) and I noticed something I've never noticed before. When Spike and Xander goes to RJ's brother's house to ask about the jacket, Spike turns all the angel statues around so they are facing the other way.

Why did he do this?

I've always thought it's either of two things:

1. It's a joke about Angel; he hates him and turns all the angels around because of that.

2. He's still dealing with his soul at this point, and it could be something to do with religion, God, the angels representing that, and he doesn't feel worthy so turns their faces away.

Or perhaps he'd just recently watched Blink and didn't want the angels looking at him. 😛

This seems like a likely reason to me 🙂
He's a little bit on the edge here and the angels are representative of something that's good and pure, something he might be struggling with in terms of himself at the moment what with the new torturing guilt of his last hundred plus years.

Or perhaps he'd just recently watched Blink and didn't want the angels looking at him. 😛

Both are equally valid and would fit perfectly with his character and what he was going through at the time. It's funny, I always noticed him picking them up but never noticed that he turned them around.

Haha I love that episode. So much. I think I caught that once and I assumed it had to do with Angel...who knows, maybe it was just cause he was insane 😉
