hmmm I agree, it does sound mighty arrogent. But, it could be sort of out of context. maybe he was saying it laughingly
like "c'mon Joss! I did all the work for you haha".
maybe not tho. who knows.

*fingers crossed* i hope this happens, doubt it though. So, if Jimmy Marsters wrote a story already, whats he need Joss for? He should take a leaf out that new Buffy movie guys book and do it independantly from Joss 🙂

Yeah, I get the feeling he's being ironic with that. It sounds like he has a vague outline of what he'd like to see that he's told Joss about, and now "all" Joss has to do is write, shoot and direct the thing. It reads to me like he was teasing.

Sean Connery did exactly that when he reprised his James Bond role in "Never Say Never Again." Weismuller did it when he went from WB to Republic. It happens all the time in Hollywood.

I don't think he was being arrogent. I think he was partially joking. In pretty much every interview he's asked that question. I'm sure he's sick of it by now.

I think he was kidding around, but he really does want to do the movie. He seems like the only star from the Buffyvers that's a hardcore fan of the show, which I think is kinda cool.

I can see why you find it arrogant, but personally I just think he has the love for his character. Can't see what's wrong with it really .
Last may I saw him explaining the story and he did it with so much passion.

It doesn't have to be either arrogance or a joke. That sort of thing is done in movies and on tv all the time. Actors either suggest general outlines for stories, change dialogue of scene content, even going so far as to write, direct, produce, and star in their own movies. I have no doubt whatsoever that Sarah, James, David, or any of the other actors suggested changes in dialogue or even got scenes changed completely simply because "Their character (insert name here) wouldn't do or say something a particular way."
Actors buy the rights to books or screenplays all the time specifically so that they can play a part. Eastwood did it with Dirty Harry, Stallone wrote the screenplay for "Rocky" and refused to allow it to be made unless he played the title role. He bought the rights to "Rambo" and changed the ending of the story so that he didn't die. Just about every actor in the entertainment business has done something like this at one time or another, from John Wayne and Tom Mix to Al Pacino and Robert Duvall.
Actors do things like that the same way that a plumber buys a pipe wrench or a pair of pliers. They're the tools of his trade, and he needs them to do his job.

Joss said he consulted Alexis Denisof on Wesley's story in "Graduation Day" and "Not Fade Away". He claims he gave him the option in Graduation Day to show off some actual fighting skill, but Alexis chose to go the humorous route. And he said before killing Wes in Not Fade Away he talked it over with Alexis, and Alexis thought it was too good an idea to pass up after Joss told him that if they do go that route and Angel magically gets renewed, Wesley would return.
But if I had a guess, I'd say Alexis' treatment had to do with Joss respecting him as an actor and the fact that they actually socialized outside of work.
The fact that Vincent Kartheiser complained that 100% of his suggestions were shot down and they didn't care about his opinions on Connor at all, makes me think that Alexis was the exception not the rule.
I doubt Marsters is in that financial bracket 😉 especially since he said in an interview once that he loved playing Spike, but if he didn't have to make money to support his family, he'd choose theatre over TV and Movies.

Well, I agree with Buffyverse fan...James has said he loved playing Spike. I don't blame him for wanting to revisit the role. He's gotta pay his bills, too 🙂 I'm sure he'd love more work with the character.

I think the man just liked to act and it shows in his performance. he gets lost in the charechter. it would also be another great way to open up our buffyverse to public viewers again

I would love to see a Spike movie IF some of the other characters from the Buffyverse were in it, because I loved Spike's interactions with characters like Buffy, Angel, and Giles. It would be really boring to me if James were the only actor from the Buffyverse in it.

This really shows how much James really loved playing Spike. I for one could see a Spike spin-off tv movie doing really well. Think about it for a second, he was like the 2nd most popular character on BTVS, right behind Buffy(at least for S6 and S7), the fans absolutely love his character and were so sad to see him die, so that led to him having to be brought onto the show Angel the next year. I think a Spike movie with maybe somebody like Faith in it as well can really put up some good numbers. I have a bad feeling that SMG won't want anything to do with it. But Eliza would most likely be up for it, and you know James is. The ball is just in Joss Whedon's hands now....
