I just found this on MSN, maybe there is hope.

In news sure to be greeted with cheers by those still pining away for their beloved Blondie Bear, it looks like a TV movie centering on platinum-topped, soul-crammed vampire Spike may be a go. In an interview with Australia's Moviehole Web site, almighty "Buffy" overlord Joss Whedon drops a boulder-sized hint about the rumored return of James Marsters' popular bloodsucker. "I'm talking in reference to that ... and possibly more," he says coyly. "I can only teasingly hint unfortunately until it's got backing and we've got a schedule and a contract. I have been talking to some of the actors, writers, and some executives are trying to put something together -- but it's not happening fast. [But no], I haven't left the Buffyverse behind." And a reminder to "Firefly" fans: Don't forget to buy a ticket and don your best brown coat for Whedon's much-anticipated (well, by us anyway) "Serenity," which arrives in theaters Sept. 30.

Basically, it's a repeat of what we already know, but still yay 😀 There's hope still!

I heard somewhere that it's not going to be directed by Joss. I think Tim Minear was mentioned as the stand in, and with Out of Gas as my fave Firefly episode that's not a bad thing.

But I'm still pensive about this movie. I'm not sure how they'll get it to work if (inevitably) most of the Buffy/Angel cast are not involved.

Do you still have the source?

Still err on the side of caution....
I will believe it when its official.

Actually that wasn't what I saw, I read this posted at fireflyfans.net:

Tim minear: "Also, I had lunch with Joss and he asked me if I wanted to write and direct some blonde vampire movie thing. Should I do it? (I of course said yes right off, still) Anything under 13 hours scares me. And anything over 13 hours... um. I got nothin'."

I heard about Tim Minear writing/directing, too. Read on the James Marsters Forum on ezboards, but I don't know where it came from. That would be way cool, tho! I'm still holding out hope......!
