Spike brought rock star cool to the fang-filled world of Buffy. Whereas Angel was sullen and dour, Spike was a vampire painted in primary colours. Sexy, cheeky and impossibly cheekboned, he was like a cross between Sid Vicious, Jim Morrison and Charles Manson, and played to perfection by the ever-great James Marsters.

Just about the only vampires from the show who didn't make the list were Vampire Xander, Vampire Buffy, Luke, and the Ubervamp. I would say that Joss' blood suckers made a pretty good showing in the poll.

I love the fact that SFX has always given the Buffyverse love. I just got their commemorative Joss Whedon Celebration magazine, and the number of Buffy issues they've put out in the past is ridiculous high. 🙂 You guys should also read SFX's Top 100 Sci-FI Icons. They've got some of my favorite names there, not to mention three Whedonverse icons in the top 10, and the top 5 for that matter! (1. Mal Reynolds, 4. Buffy, 5. Spike)
