Spike or Angel?

Dia DeLa Muerte agrees: Like that you use Harmony.......part of me hopes that I had something to do with that....only a bit
You did actually your fan-fic really pointed how good Harmony was!

I think you will find the last act Spike did before getting his soul was, fighting to get his soul. Was he still questioning his nature when he travelled all the way to Africa?? Was he not making a conscious effort to be a better man??
He was make it on the assumption that if he had a would Buffy would love him, He was doing it not for the greater good, but the good of Spike!

SPIKE
It, uh, it talked to the little boy. Said it wasn't time for me yet. I should
move out. Leave town before it is time for me.
BUFFY
No, you have to stay.
SPIKE
You've got another demon fighter now.
BUFFY
That's not why I need you here.
SPIKE
Is that right? Why's that then?
BUFFY
'Cause I'm not ready for you to not be here.

Spike wanted to leave, Buffy told him not to, because SHE needed HIM.
Yes on the for the small picture Spike could see he had to leave, Because the first could use him, but he could come back when they won! On the larger picture he did not do what was best for Buffy, Buffy didn't want Angel to leave, but he knew he had to, she wasn't ready to have him not there but he knew that he could not offer her everything she deserved, Spike could not see this!

BUFFY
Angel.
He half turns back to her.
BUFFY
I do"¦ sometimes think that far ahead.
ANGEL
Sometimes is something.
BUFFY
It'll be a long time coming. Years, if ever.
ANGEL
(smiles)
I isn't getting any older"¦

Angel is still a vampire in Chosen. He wants to be with Buffy. Exactly how does that fit into your theory?
Because he wanted it, but he did not hound Buffy looking for it constantly, he knew that leaving would be the right thing to do, and he did it!

Angel is a better man than Spike? Really? Tell me one thing Spike did(when he has both a soul and full control of his mind), that is even remotely comparable to Angel locking the lawyers in that room to be murdered?

Ok, this concept might be a bit hard for you to grasp........
Was Liam arrogant? We know Liam did not like being told what to do, he didn't like his father having power over him. So much so, that one of the first things he does as a vampire is to take that power from his father.
Emotional Growth (Something you probably know nothing about), When Angelus got cursed with Liam's soul, he was no longer Angelus but he was no longer Liam either, If you think Liam and Angel are the same then go watch the series again!

Was Angelus arrogant? We know Angelus does not like being told what to do. We saw that when Jasmine was in his head. We know Angelus likes to have the power, his relationship with Spike shows us that.
Yes he was, he was a soulless demon, most of the vampire's on the show are arrogant

Is Angel arrogant? "What we once were informs all that we have become." Angel doesn't like the SP having power over him. Its very simple.
Yes he doesn't like the SP over him, or his friends or Anyone else in the world. If you think Angel only did it because he didn't like having the SP's over him alone, again I say go watch the show again!

If the show hadn't ended we would have found out, that in fact he didn't help humanity. He brought forth an apocolypse with his arrogance.
We don't know that the demons continued to destroy the rest of the world, all we know is they were sent after Angel and his gang.
If they did continue to destroy the rest of the world then we know from Fray that the Apocalypse turned out in favour of good, If it was the same apocalypse, and if it was not that apocalypse then someone defeated the demon army!

They act retarded, I tell them. They're not as retarded as you, though.
[SARCASIM] Wow, well your level of sophistication in arguments is really high isn't it?? I mean this point was really really good[/SARCASIM] Instead of responding with your level of arguing (I think the answer would be "No your retarded") I think I'll let you sit on your comment and laugh! (At you not with you just encase you didn't get that 🙂 )

PJ, you really need to go back and watch teh show again i don't think that you really understood the message of not fade away, Angel did not start the appocolypse, he putn aspaner in the works by taking out the black thorn, plus the sp's only had the demons come after Angel and his crew, and it is like BEG says it was a sacrifice in favour of the good fight not suicide.
That's not saying Spike is better than Angel he actually got the jist of things and willingly joined Angel.

You did actually your fan-fic really pointed how good Harmony was!

The first time you mentioned Harmony, I ignored it, because is has no relation to Spike or Angel (which in case your brain is having difficulty comprehending, is the topic at hand), and is completely pointless. As you have mentioned her again, then I feel I must comment. First of all, Al's take on what happened after the alley, has no relevance to the topic. If you're having difficulty differentiating between fan-fiction and the shows, then you have a bigger problem than I could ever help you with. Secondly, we are debating who is the better man, Spike or Angel. Your opinion that Harmony( a souless vampire) is better than Spike, also means she is better than Angel, because at no point did Angel (a souless vampire) make any attempt to redeem himself, so again pointless.
Thirdly, Harmony betrayed the group after about two days, when she originally came to LA. Her working at W&H, and not killing humans has nothing to do with her being a good person, as you state she is. She is controlled by her fear. It has nothing to do with wanting to be good.
He was make it on the assumption that if he had a would Buffy would love him, He was doing it not for the greater good, but the good of Spike!

I'm having great difficulty actually making any sense of that warbled sentence. What I think I decipher from it is, that he got a soul for himself? By golly, the selfish bastard, how dare he get a soul for himself!

Yes on the for the small picture Spike could see he had to leave, Because the first could use him, but he could come back when they won!

"Yes on the for", that makes sense. "Could come back", is pure speculation. As we are shown on season 5 of Angel, Spike fights for the greater good. Which is fact.
On the larger picture he did not do what was best for Buffy,

In the larger picture Spike saved the world!

Buffy didn't want Angel to leave, but he knew he had to, she wasn't ready to have him not there but he knew that he could not offer her everything she deserved, Spike could not see this!

Again completely pointless. Angel wanted to be with Buffy in Chosen. He left because she told him to. Angel is still a vampire. Buffy will age, and he will not. NOTHING has changed. That Angel still wanted to be with her, proves that he could not see whatever Spike could not see.
Because he wanted it, but he did not hound Buffy looking for it constantly, he knew that leaving would be the right thing to do, and he did it!

Exactly when did Spike hound Buffy(post soul)? Oh that's right, he was on at her every night to hop in the sack with him!

Angel is a better man than Spike? Really? Tell me one thing Spike did(when he has both a soul and full control of his mind), that is even remotely comparable to Angel locking the lawyers in that room to be murdered?

Forget to answer this, sparky?

Emotional Growth (Something you probably know nothing about),

Emotional growth?? Are you an undercover homo?
When Angelus got cursed with Liam's soul, he was no longer Angelus but he was no longer Liam either, If you think Liam and Angel are the same then go watch the series again!

What the hell?. Then EVERYTHING you say about Spike, pre soul, post soul is irrelevant. By your logic, ensouled Spike and souless Spike are two completely different beings. So, Souled Spike, souled Angel. Which one is the better man? Spike sacrificed his life to save the world. Has Angel done this? No. Did Spike lock a room full of Lawyers up to be murdered? No. Did Spike murder his own son? No. Is Angel a better man than Spike? Clearly not, you would have to be seriously deficient to think otherwise.
Yes he was, he was a soulless demon, most of the vampire's on the show are arrogant

Yes he doesn't like the SP over him, or his friends or Anyone else in the world. If you think Angel only did it because he didn't like having the SP's over him alone, again I say go watch the show again!

I didn't say that was his only reason, but thanks for agreeing part of his reason was his own arrogance. 😉

I don't read comics, so I have no idea about Fray. How anyone can say an apocolypse turning out in the favour of good, is beyond me. Where is death good? I read that Joss' intentions for season 6 were to have a post-apocalyptic world, which was caused by Angel.

[SARCASIM] Wow, well your level of sophistication in arguments is really high isn't it?? Your inability to construct proper sentences and also spell correctly is quite amusing to me.

Look back to where I made this comment I merely mentioned that Harmony was a stronger Vampire then Spike. because of how she acted.
As you have mentioned her again, then I feel I must comment.
Ok I commented on the message DDLM left in a Karma, I didn't bring Harmony into the conversation again, and involve her in the discussion in anyway. It was a completely separate note!

First of all, Al's take on what happened after the alley, has no relevance to the topic. If you're having difficulty differentiating between fan-fiction and the shows, then you have a bigger problem than I could ever help you with
I did not say that the things Harmony did in DDLM's Fan-Fic, made me believe she was a good vampire, But it did really point out how good she was during the series.

Never said she wasn't

Ok have you seen season 5 of Angel, cuz I'm not sure you have. she wasn't kept there by fear!

I'm having great difficulty actually making any sense of that warbled sentence.
Yes, The 'warbled' sentence was my fault, sorry.

"Yes on the for", that makes sense. "Could come back", is pure speculation. As we are shown on season 5 of Angel, Spike fights for the greater good. Which is fact.
As soon as he is came back, he try's to leave, But when he reaches the city limits he appears back in the WR&H offices. And as soon as he's made corporeal he goes and has sex with Harmony, real love for Buffy there. And then it's when he learns that he could be the one to be made Human, That's when he fights the good fight! Convenient!

In the larger picture Spike saved the world!
Well that was completely off topic as a reply! Angel's done that a couple of times. And back on point He only got the soul to try and make Buffy feel love for him!

Again completely pointless. Angel wanted to be with Buffy in Chosen. He left because she told him to. Angel is still a vampire. Buffy will age, and he will not. NOTHING has changed. That Angel still wanted to be with her, proves that he could not see whatever Spike could not see.
You've got things mixed up there, Angel did not come back in in Chosen to be with Buffy, he came back to help her fight, because Lilah gave him information and a tool to fight The First. Angel also believed one day he would be made human, and so could be with Buffy!

Exactly when did Spike hound Buffy(post soul)? Oh that's right, he was on at her every night to hop in the sack with him!
Spike still hung around her, Telling her every so often, Oh I love you. Hoping she would change her mind, without ever thinking that Buffy could not have a normal life with him!

Emotional growth?? Are you an undercover homo?
Ok are you sure you've seen these show's before? Every character in both Angel and buffy went through Emotional growth. Oh by they way nice way to not answer the question when you don't have an answer. And to answer your question, no, I'm straight!

What the hell?. Then EVERYTHING you say about Spike, pre soul, post soul is irrelevant.
Not really Joss once said something like Spike was an anomaly among vampires because he is not that different between the two!

So, Souled Spike, souled Angel. Which one is the better man? Spike sacrificed his life to save the world. Has Angel done this? No.
No but Angel has saved the world, countless times. Spike did it once!

Did Spike murder his own son? No.
That's just a stupid point. I am seriously asking you this now, Do you watch these shows?? Angel killing his son, gave Connor Life. If he didn't Connor would have killed himself!

I didn't say that was his only reason, but thanks for agreeing part of his reason was his own arrogance.
I didn't say it was his arrogance, I said he doesn't like having the SP's over his head. There is a difference.

I don't read comics, so I have no idea about Fray
After the apocalypse all demons are banned from the earth

Look back to where I made this comment I merely mentioned that Harmony was a stronger Vampire then Spike. because of how she acted.

Still has no relevance to our discussion. I agree, she was a stronger vampire, Spike is a stronger human.
Ok I commented on the message DDLM left in a Karma, I didn't bring Harmony into the conversation again, and involve her in the discussion in anyway. It was a completely separate note!

You seemed to think you had made some point with bringing Harmony into the topic.

I did not say that the things Harmony did in DDLM's Fan-Fic, made me believe she was a good vampire, But it did really point out how good she was during the series.

Harmony wasn't good. I did read your post, otherwise I wouldn't have replied.

Ok have you seen season 5 of Angel, cuz I'm not sure you have. she wasn't kept there by fear!

Why does Harmony not kill humans? It is not an inherent desire to do good. She has no soul.
What I meant to say was he did it to get Buffy, not for the greater good!

He wanted Buffy to love him, so what?
Spike: (sighs) Yeah, well, originally I was. I got over it. (Sits on the edge of a coffin) Doesn't seem to me it matters very much how you start out.

I never said he did it for the greater good. The fact of the matter is, it doesn't actually matter why Spike got his soul. What matters is, when he got it he used it for the greater good. Angel spent 100 years before using his.

Convenient!

Angel had sex with Darla, which is much worse than Spike and Harmony.

Well that was completely off topic as a reply! Angel's done that a couple of times. And back on point He only got the soul to try and make Buffy feel love for him!

Wanting to be loved does not make you a bad man. It just makes you a man.

You've got things mixed up there, Angel did not come back in in Chosen to be with Buffy, he came back to help her fight, because Lilah gave him information and a tool to fight The First.

Yes, and he went to Italy just to help her there as well. Have you watched Chosen, the majority of their conversation is about them being with each other.
Angel also believed one day he would be made human, and so could be with Buffy!
So its ok for Angel to have selfish reasons for fighting evil, but not Spike. You are using two different sticks to measure both vampires.

Spike still hung around her, Telling her every so often, Oh I love you. Hoping she would change her mind, without ever thinking that Buffy could not have a normal life with him!

Buffy needed Spike in season 7.
Ok are you sure you've seen these show's before? Every character in both Angel and buffy went through Emotional growth. Oh by they way nice way to not answer the question when you don't have an answer. And to answer your question, no, I'm straight!

You didn't ask me a question. I have answered all your questions. You clearly don't have any respect to answer many of the questions I have asked you.

Not really Joss once said something like Spike was an anomaly among vampires because he is not that different between the two!

Actually that was David Fury. About five minutes after he said that, he also said Spike was a better man than Angel. But I guess now that I'm using your argument against you, its now not important?

No but Angel has saved the world, countless times. Spike did it once!
And? Spike had a soul how long? two years. Angel had his fifty-plus times that.
That's just a stupid point. I am seriously asking you this now, Do you watch these shows?? Angel killing his son, gave Connor Life. If he didn't Connor would have killed himself!
I know it was a stupid point, that was actually the point of it. Maybe you'll better understand what its like for me reading your points.

I didn't say it was his arrogance, I said he doesn't like having the SP's over his head. There is a difference.
Do you think Angel is arrogant?
Well when the only other option is everyone dieing, I also did not say that death was good, I said the outcome was on the side of good, Again please read posts!

Back to you, Skippy. Structure your sentences better, and there won't be confusion.

Ok, i am only commenting on this line

At what point did love come into either of the two sex acts.......
I could say Angel and Darla loved each other, but then you'd just say they didn't so... totally not responding seeing as I know you don't believe that anyway.

Harmony... at least thought she loved Spike. Spike obviously didn't love or even like her that much.

I could say Angel and Darla loved each other, but then you'd just say they didn't so... totally not responding seeing as I know you don't believe that anyway.

IF you have an opinion, say it. The reason i dont believe it is simpky because the EVIDENCE is overwhelming.
There was absolutely NO love in what Angel and Darla did....infact if you watch the aftermath of that scene, when Angel is saying he was at the lowest of the low...if love was involved, he could never have descended to the pits of his depression to have his epiphany....so no love there.

Harmony... at least thought she loved Spike. Spike obviously didn't love or even like her that much.

Again, a very dubious use of the word Love.
I am sure that 3 years previous she thought what she felt for Spike was love, but even Harmony knew that it was not by this time..
So again, no love there.

Lust aplenty, but no love

Wow intense, I'd just like to say that for me it's Spike (heh kind of obvious). Angel was cool and all in the beginning, I liked his character, but I guess he got kind of boring for me and well he never seemed human to me at times he did granted, but it didn't do it for me. The romance between him and Buffy was nice then it was just sucky when he left, I hated it. I felt like of all things to do, he was Angelus and did crazy stuff (that was actually interesting) then he decides to run off. I felt betrayed like Buffy.

Then Spike, he's completely the anti-hero then again I am bias. I am a sucker for bad boys especially very good-looking ones that are sarcastic and have British accents. Tee hee, he was hilarious and so evil in the beginning then he changed with the chip. I liked how his character evolved except for some things at the later end of the series, but hey no ones perfect. I liked how twisted he was, made him more human to me anyways.

Although it was hotter and there was more love involved.

Wow. I don't know how anyone could possibly see love in what Angel and Darla did. Yes, it was much hotter to watch, but thats it.
I could say Angel and Darla loved each other, but then you'd just say they didn't so... totally not responding seeing as I know you don't believe that anyway.

Harmony... at least thought she loved Spike. Spike obviously didn't love or even like her that much.

Darla came to Angel's room to kill him. Angel sleeping with Darla had absolutely nothing to do with love. It was, as Angel calls it, perfect despair. When Angel gets to the hotel he really is the exact embodiment of despair, he is completely numb to the world around him. His descent needs one final act of desperation in a truly desperate episode, and thats what sleeping with Darla is.

IF you have an opinion, say it. The reason i dont believe it is simpky because the EVIDENCE is overwhelming.

Angel: "You saved me."
Darla: "Yes. - But I *was* going to kill you tonight. Take you out of this world the same way I brought you into it. But I didn't have to. You gave yourself over so completely, Angelus. I felt you surrender."
Angel shaking his head slightly: "I gave you everything I had left."
Darla with a smile: "Yes."
Angel: "I am - so sorry."

Darla: "You're not evil. I-I don't understand. - Was I... Was it... not good? (Lets out a short laugh) Well, I don't accept that. You can not tell me that wasn't perfect. Not only have I been around for four hundred years, but I used to do this professionally. And *that* was perfect. (Grabs his arm and tries to drag him back to bed) We'll go again."
Angel pulls free and gets up, backing away.
Angel: "No. No. We can't. You know we can't. - We're finished."
Darla: "Finished? Why? What, because you suddenly decide? You know an hour ago you wanted this. You weren't tricked into anything. I didn't seduce you. You *wanted* it!"
Angel: "Yeah. And it *was* perfect, Darla. - It was perfect despair."

Again, a very dubious use of the word Love.
I am sure that 3 years previous she thought what she felt for Spike was love, but even Harmony knew that it was not by this time..

Yes, tis a loop, one faught by fact, one faught by a woman who probably isnt getting any action, so has to focus her energy on some fictional creation to feel some satisfaction in life......
I have in the past, been known to rant on this subject. I won't. Darla came to kill him because she loved him (if she couldn't be with him, she'd rather him be dead), Angel wanted to sleep with her because he loved her (so he could be with her, as Angelus... which was stupid). Maybe they both loved their opposing personas (Darla, Angelus. Angel, Human soul'd Darla) but it meant more than a quick lay because someone hadn't had sex in 5 months (?). Also, Angel wouldn't have believed he could lose his soul with Darla if he didn't love her. That's what he told the swami when he called him a eunuch.

A coupleof basis facts you have gotten wrong.
Firstly, the Swami never called Angel a Eunuch, Bryce did....actually he said he hired Angel because he was one....to which Angel is shocked.
The idea is that Angel connot have sex....Sex and Love are two different things, however its feasible for Angel to assume ANY act of sex with anyone will bring forth that random moment of happiness, hence his abstinence until Nina which he brings into question as well.

Angel wanted to sleep with Darla because he, at this point, was still under the assumption that sex was the key to unleashing Angelus and just wanted what he was feeling to stop.
Whnat he did was NOT born from love.....read the parts that PJ placed on here.
Darla didn't love Angel or Angelus. The reason she went to Kill him was because she was disgusted by him, what he had done, what he had become.
If any of this is love to you, well i pray you have a happy life.

I fear you need to re watch ALL of the Darla/Angel story of season 2 again, cause at no point was love involved.
Angel and Magev are sitting at the lake, fishing.
Angel: "Not a vampire at all, really. I mean, not any more. They brought her back as a human."
Magev: "This Darla girl - why'd they do that?"
Angel: "I don't know. But seeing her again... it's just..."
Magev: "It started the inner struggle."
Angel: "Yeah."
Magev: "She's not even the one that did this to you."
Angel: "No. It-it's still her, it's still Darla. It's - kinda hard to explain."
Magev: "What hard? You're obsessed."
Angel: "I guess I am, a little, yeah."
Magev: "You blame her."
Angel: "I suppose I do."
Magev: "You want to punish her."
Angel: "A bit..."

Magev: "Curse?"
Angel: "Yeah. I thought you knew."
Magev: "Well, they don't tell me everything. So you really can't - at all?"
Angel: "Well, that's part of what makes me special, right?"
Magev: "Right. No, that's real special. - So, it's a sex thing this curse?"
Angel: "Well, no, not specifically."
Magev: "Well, then, what specifically?"

Even though he denies it is just a sex thing, he agrees that he can't have sex at all.....which indicates he believes that sex is what will lead him to a moment of pure happiness.

Any further comments you make now, will hold absolutely NO water simply because that simple comment right there has proven how absolutely ignorant you are of fact.
HAHAHAHA....foolish.
I've never laughed so hard at one person in my entire life.....and i've seen Ricky Gervais live!!

It's amazing how people see shows so differently, you see their relationship as hate or lust? I saw the whole season two arc with her dying and him trying to save her as a romantic tragedy, whatever.

It's amazing how people see shows so differently, you see their relationship as hate or lust? I saw the whole season two arc with her dying and him trying to save her as a romantic tragedy, whatever.

What Angel was doing was trying to spare Darla the pain and suffering he had to deal with.
It was never about love, it was about atonement, redemption....ohhh wait, i've heard that somewhere before.
He, at this point believed he could have a chance at his redemption, through Shanshu, BUT when he saw that Darla was back, and was Human, he began to see he had a responsibility to help her. He saw this as her chance to repent for her sins......it was not about Love or Lust, it was about doing the right thing.
Then when she was turnned again, all that went skyward when he had to kill her.....again not born from love, but duty.
Added to all that is the fact W&H were playing with him, he had his friends removed, he was alone. This took him to his darkest place and caused him to seek solace in Angelus, through sexual relations with Darla......

Haha.....again....hahaha.....

Ok, I've thought about it, and I just don't get it.

Why would Angel be in love with Darla? Vampire Darla who was evil, or Human Darla(bear in mind, he knew human Darla, for what? two minutes.......). Seriously, if you think Angel was in love with Darla, then prove it, FahrbotDrusilla, because I just don't see it. The thought never occured to me once in all the times I've watched season 2.

Seriously, if you think Angel was in love with Darla, then prove it, FahrbotDrusilla, because I just don't see it. The thought never occured to me once in all the times I've watched season 2.

I agree on this. Not once did it ever cross my mind that there was love between Darla and Angel while watching Season 2. :eviltongu

Psychotic Jackass agrees: Don't do it Kimm! Don't agree with ME. You will start a cataclysmic chain of events that will inevitably lead to the worlds destruction! Or maybe just lead to hugs and puppies.

Oh no!! Not hugs and puppies!!! Aaaack!! :scared2:
