I find Spike pretty childish in this season, up until some point anyway. I think it comes from the fact that Angel is around and he likes to turture him. Also, they have somewhat of a bigger brother-little brother relationship, and Spike is obviously the little brother who likes to annoy his older brother.
So, Spike gets really annoying this season, however, I find it and him very cute. And as much as he's annoying, I cannot hate him. He's fun and interesting and brings some comedy relief after Cordy's coma.
(Plus, annoying Angel is really fun! He's a little uptight)

So do you find him more cute or more annoying this season? Or both like me?

I find Spike a breath of fresh air for this season. The interaction between Spike and Angel is one of the reasons this season is so high to me. I think it is very underrated and I just love the dynamic.
I don't think Spike is childish because I feel Angel acts in the same way at times and the comments they throw at each other over Buffy and such. I don't mind though because I get Spike and his witty humor.

My thoughts exactly :)

AMEN SISTA!
He definitely adds a lot to the season, but it bothers me a little that he's mostly used as comic relief and a comic foil for Angel.

After all the development of his character over on BtVS, to see him kind of devolve a little bit is disheartening. And I found some of his actions OOC (such as not making more of an effort to see--or even call--Buffy).

That said, I do think the season benefited from his presence. Anything does. 😀

Yeah, I agree about the devolving and not even calling Buffy thing. Hey, do you reckon Andrew actually kept his mouth shut about seeing Spike?

(This is from my wife. She's a very wise, astute person)

Can't he be annoyingly cute?

(This is from me)

I didn't find Spike either cute OR annoying. I simply saw him as a work in progress, pretty much the same thing that we were told that Angel had been, only in Spike's case, we actually got to see the evolution in real time, not just in bits and pieces in flashbacks.

Annoyingly cute put it in words I can't even begin to discribe!
I'll go with cute. But he can be so annoying sometimes. It's like they're trying to make him a comic relief. He has great moments, though. He's the cutest when he's with Illyria. 😀

I liked him better later on in the season when he became corporeal. Sure, he might have done some things that could be seen as annoying, but I think he was always a little like that even on BTVS. One of my favorite parts from that season with him was when Eve was stuck in the elevator, and he's asking around to see if anyone will help and then says
"So where the bloody hell is maintenance? ...Oh, to be honest I don't even care."

Can't i say both? xD haha. He was like a whole different person in Angel to me, he did act like a child, he was always bickering with Angel but c'mon we gotta have some Spangel Love! It totally makes the season, but i know what you mean about being annoying. He hung about too much, like he had nothing else better to do. aha

Huh I don't think he's either. Sure he's annoying to Angel but he just love getting on his case now that he's running an evil law firm hahahaha 😛

Spike's actions will always be cute to me. He's just so adorable... every time I see him on screen, I find myself wanting to reach in and give him a hug. Season 5 of Angel was no exception. However, as xaphania said, I didn't like how we didn't really get to see Spike develop that much. They started to do a little with him and his new title as "champion," but it wasn't enough for me... I'm used to seeing Spike grow exponentially.

I do see what you're saying about the brother thing... although I think Spike proved he's not Angel's shadow.

I agree with everything you've just said! :)

Neither, lol. Spike is one of the reasons S5 is my favorite season of ANGEL. He was hilarious and his interaction with Angel is just golden. 100% not annoying, IMO, and I've never found him 'cute', lol.

When I think of cute, I think of like a baby or a puppy 😛

I think like baby or puppy when I hear cute too... and Spike is cute as a button!
I love Spike in Season 5! As Marisa said - he was a breath of fresh air!

I thought he was totally cute, and perfect for Angel (uh... his story I mean... Honest!). Spike almost (hey, I said almost!) filled the empty gap that Cordelia left. Someone that was on the team, but could make sarcastic comments, wind Angel up, and tell Angel to get over it when necessary.

Angel + Spike = HappyCait

I think that is another reason because Cordy was gone and Spike was kind of a original member like how you said he almost filled the void :)

Completely agree, Spike really made Ats 5 for me, it was refreshing to see him be so... Spike again. So I guess that means I'll go with 'cute' but yeah, not the word I'm sure I would choose. 🙂

Puppet Angel was cute. 🙂 Spike was "good-looking and athletic." 😀

Like others here, I didn't find Spike annoying in s5, not one bit. He definitely was annoying to Angel, but that was the point. To get on Angel's case for joining an evil law firm, and for the simple fact that he didn't like Angel. I actually really liked seeing them grow to have a mutual respect for each other, despite their banters.

Just what Angel needed after the absence of Cordy. He was cute, when was he not cute.

I`m puzzled with Spike, because he is funny at times but he has always acted like a jerk towards my favourite darling Harmony. And for that I can not forgive him though he made me cry because it was so beautiful when he was the first to raise his hand to die for the cause in the episode "Power Play". And as opposed to what someone else pointed out earlier I didn`t find him funny when he said he didn`t care about Eve, when she was stuck in the elevator. That`s just another example of him being a jerk against another of my favourite characters. But I did like him when Lorne had the power to order people to do stuff and they had to do it, and Spike had to be all cute and happy. That was the kind of Spike I like. I think it was kind of gross when he and Fred interacted. Fred is supposed to be with Willow or possibly Tara, noone else. And the Spangel episode was so cute when they were supposed to prove their manliness to Buffy. And it ended up with Angel riding behind Spike on the motorcykle, though he loudly objected, alphamale as he is. I don`t think there is brotherly love going on between them, rather sexual tension, as between the alphamales of True Blood.

Spike's charm was that he was a jerk.
Heh, IMO he was funny as usual and I was happy, that he got into the gang in season 5!

I think Spike's annoying in a really good way in this season. Angel is a much funnier character when he's around, he's so petulant. Spangel.
