In Episode 2, during the "19 days earlier" flashback, the final scene between Buffy and Spike had the "I love you..." scene edited out of it. Any opinions why? I personally think Angel used his evil shamen/wizards/whatever to remove it out of pure jealousy.

Seriously, I consider that to be a very essential part of the scene and as such should not have been removed. What do you think?

I think they didn't show it because in an episode, there's a time constraint, and to put the whole scene in unedited would mean cutting the episode short somewhere else, while is a little ridiculous for a scene that you probably would have seen/needed to see to understand what was going on with Spike in Angel S5 anyway.

Yes, it was very important part of the scene and it was strange to watch it cut off.
But I think similar to Chocolate-Drop here, whole scene was probably just too long. It only had to show what happened to Spike in the Hellmouth ( I mean bursting into flames).

As far as we know, the only two people who know about that scene are Buffy and Spike, right? Something tells me neither of them shared that with Angel (or with anyone else, for that matter). I think that part was edited to preserve the sense of privacy there. Everyone knows Spike bursted into effulgent rays of soul shine. There are plenty of witnesses to verify that. Only Buffy and Spike know the last part, though. Since the purpose of the scene in Angel was just to let us know what happened, (in case we weren't watching the sister show, I guess) it makes sense that that part would have been cut.

It was sort of like in Angel's nightmare. Angel knows Buffy and Spike slept together, but he doesn't know it know it. The idea he had of things was a lot more PG-13 than what happened in private. Because *we* are privy to certain things, we seem to expect all of the characters to be privy to them, too. But since they aren't, sometimes other characters' perceptions of events don't accurately reflect the reality that we saw (or maybe just the POV that we saw).

I agree that it was done for time constraints. Personally I don't feel it was of great importance to the 'Angel' series anyway. I think season 5 of Ats in general was far to Buffy specific, including the Buffy/Spike/Angel triangle. The purpose of the scene was to show how Spike died, not to show a moment between Buffy and Spike which as the poster above me mentions, was a very private moment between them anyway.

I liked that they did it though, they had a nice alternative score to the quick flashback and I love the very Ominous music that begins when the words; 'The Hellmouth.' All very epic and lovely 😀

I think it's just because they didn't want to big an uproar from :sick2: bangel fans.

I am a bit pissed it got left out. The scene was very important, and changing for the whole show. Also for the Angel show! Buffy telling Spike that she loved him, would have an impact on mr Broodin-over-broccoli. And they left it out? Grr argh.

But it might be because the flashbacks shows the important things that would effect the current episode (not that the Spuffyness wasn't important, it just wasn't relevant for the episode.).
