Spike was never one of my favourites,but after that scene he fell even lower.....Buffy said NO and it's all that matters....

There is a thread on Inside Out that defines soul in the Buffyverse. In it, it is theorized that the conscience of a person can be jolted back into operation by a serious enough act or situation, and Faith is used as an example of someone who had it happen. I think this is what happened with Spike here. The only conscience he had without a soul was the chip. It didn't work with Buffy. His AR was the catalyst for his conscience to start working again. This in turn compelled him to get back his soul, since a conscience working without a soul to back it up is painful and pretty much useless.

It sounds like a couple of the posters here have a bit of a low opinion of males...it may be warranted, but I hope I did my bit for the redemption of my gender. Just to bamboozle you a bit more, I'm a hockey- playing, beer- drinkin', woman -lovin' guy, not some flower sniffing, Alan Aldalike eunuch (not that I don't stop and smell the roses sometimes...). Even ordinary guys can get with the program, so never judge a man by his gender!!

Why I side with Buffy: She reconized that she shouldn't keep using him if she never felt for soulless Spike. That was that. She stopped seeing him and it was clear she didn't want him to be there. She said stop and he didn't stop.

she was really mean with him..she was using the poor guy...
 
I dont think it was that big of a deal. Right after it happened, everyone was all shoke up over it, but after awile it seems lett important.
 
I think its a very important thing, at that moment I wanted Spike to be killed. He disgusted me so much, when he have friends that have or almost been raped, you realize it is important. I felt so bad for James, he HATED having doing that scene.

I don't care what Buffy did to Spike, a man DOESN'T have an excuse to do that.
