Spike's problem with Angel

Yeah I agree...and I think that the negative associations he had with the name "Angelus" (because that's the name he was given as a vampire) are also what made him decide to shorten it to just "Angel".

Angelus is the Latin for Angel, it was suppose to be ironic. Also they CALLED him the demon with an angelic face because he was so pretty, and his name is Angelus.
 
Angel didn't want to be refer to as Angelus because of all the killing and damage he did for so many years under that name. The angel/angelus persone is different sides to one person. We all have different sides to our character. Like the good kirk evil kirk. Instead of saying Angel and Angelus, could describe him as good liam evil liam.

The evil liam was filled with anger for his father. The good liam later on trying to understand why he was so angry and wanting to make up for how he vented that anger.

Now as for Spike. As William he was an anxious little momma boy. A dork trying to woo the girl next door with his so so poetry. Because he wasn't taken very seriously the anger was building up inside. It was only as Spike that he was able to let all that anger loose.

I dunno....

It seems apparent to me that when someone is made a vampire the person that they once were dies...no longer exists, etc.

In my opinion Liam died when Darla changed him and what was created out of that was Angelus (who didn't seem to have any kind of resemblance to Liam) and then Angel when he got his soul (who still didn't seem to resemble Liam at all).

I feel the same way about Spike. Once Dru killed William he became Spike (who was not like William AT ALL)...
