right so the other day my mate alex suggests we should go see a film at the local picture house (the cinema which shows your more art house stuff) and seeing how A: im up for anything in the right mood and B: seeing films is fun i agreed and for good measure we dragged along another Alex who is also our friend. who like most of you guys is a bit of a mainstream monkey, probabley didnt even know they made films that dont get shown at the odeon!

so anyways we went to see spirited away, an anime about this girl who's moving house and her parents take a wrong turn and find a magical land where they probley turn into pigs and she works for a Witch who runs a Bath house where god can pay to have a good scrub! the "stink god" really hits the fan tho when this bloke called No face shows up and starts eating all the animals that work there!

the moral of the story dont mention "boeing" the next time your on a tranatlantic flight 😀

I sincerely hope, you weren't just now suggesting this film sucked, cause that would be baa-aad!

Not sure exactly what you intended this thread to be Faldor. But I loved Spirited Away, so I'll jump at the chance to shanghai this into discussion/praise of the movie.

SO many little things that I loved in this one. The cutesy dust mites. The three bouncing heads. The raddish in the elevator. The fly and the hampster... and no-face! No-face rocked.

i loved this film! it was quite the pic!!! logve the coloring they used and the faces.. the dragon is fab! i love his eyes!

this is a very good animee... not like your usuals though, cos this ones got a lot more atetion, just like it deserved! 😉
 
I just finished watching this film tonight. I like it well enough, although I have to say it is not one of my favorite anime films.

I had a hard time following some of the sequencing, perhaps I was just a little tired. A good friend suggested I rewatch it and I probably will. However, the end was grand enough for me to recommend this film to anybody. The end just seemed to be told and expressed with a lot more emotion than the rest of the film.

Only my opinions......
 
It was abysmal I thought but that's just me......The message of the film is 'Capitalism = bad' and that's just tired beyond cliche.....
 
It's got problems(capitalism) but I dare say somewhat controversially no doubt,that it can a force for good for the whole of humanity if we handle it bravely and with due diligence......😉

As for 'Spirited Away' it was too simplistic for my palate......🙂

Well duh, but if properly done, communism would work too, and IMO it's a fairer system. Just doesn't work, cause ppl = evil.
 
At least capitalism doesn't ask people to be anything but evil......Whether that's a good thing or not,I don't think so but we're stuck with it so should make the best of it we can methinks....

Yeah, we're stuck with it, and should try to make the best of it, but that still doesn't mean it's right!
