Season 8 will continue the story of Buffy and the Scoobs after the destruction of Sunnydale. The first issue comes out March 7. Joss Whedon will write the first four, the last four, and run the project. It's considered canon.
Other comic writers such Jeph Loeb, and Brian K Vaughn will write arcs. Writers of the TV series are also slated to contribute.
