Can I just say one word - Spiiiiiiiiike!!
popular consensus says it is #34...
It seems to be a flashback...
Wonder where it's going to lead...

Yeah it seems like a flashback alright and that image of Willow is from issue 31. I think this is gona be part of Giles' explanation of what has happened to Buffy and Angel and it seems connected to the Slayer Spell, which we have been speculating about for a long time now.

I was gonna say "OMG. That's Spike!" too. 😀

Good theory, Kean. But if it's not a flashback, I hope Spike will kick both Buffy's and Angel's ass.

And aww, Wash.

Yeah it looks like a flashback, the text box seems the same as previous flashbacks.

I'm not saying it's not a flashback (because it probably is) but when did Buffy and Spike fight a giant horned kind of monster/demon?

For that matter, when did Willow, or any other woman on Buffy's series, except for Faith in Season 7 and possibly Dru in the mall in Season 2, get blown up? And there was no horned demon in either of those seasons.

That was Willow from #31 recieving her powers back -the scene when she was talking with Oz.

Scott says that the Buffy/Spike panel is a flashback of some sort, perhaps it's a flashback to a scene that's gonna happen in S8 itself. Spike is coming to S8, Joss stated that.

Scott Allie, as quoted from Buffyfest blog:

I saw a Tweet about it being the thirteenth anniversary of the Buffy TV show, and I was delirious from too many hours at work. I had all this Buffy and Serenity stuff—in addition to Hellboy—spread out on my desk, the same desk I've been at since 1997. And it just blew my mind that that show started so long ago, on a night when I may well have been sitting at the very same desk, too late at night. And now all these years later, the desk is covered with pages we never could have imagined back then, not to mention that cover for Serenity, another show that would come and go in those years. Did you listen to Patton's new record? It's the funniest thing in the world, man, amazing. I listened to it over and over driving down the coast on that Exurbia book tour when I saw you in LA. Pat does this thing about going back in time to talk to the 1999 Patton, and telling him about the future, blowing his mind that among other things there's a black president. Seriously imagine going back ten years and telling young Michelle that she'd be voting for a black guy, who'd actually win. Anyway, I've often had thoughts like that, about going back to high school and blowing my teenage mind with talk about working with Frank Miller and John Severin and having frequent conversations with Alan Moore. So that was the sort of thoughts going through my mind, thinking about being a young editor doing a licensed comic, back when no one respected licensed comics, before anyone was working with the creators of the original properties. That's what I was thinking, looking at that Serenity cover with Patton and Joss's names right on it. So I carefully moved things around, to cover just a couple little spoilery things—worse than that Spike cameo, which fans have correctly ID'ed as a kind of flashback—and snapped the picture and tweeted it. A little while later I hopped in the car and drove home, and on the way I got a text from my PR department, freaking out, saying it spoiled some exclusive preview stuff they were setting up. So I pulled it down, but you can't unring a bell, especially on the interwebs."

What's a "kind of flashback"? A flashback to something that happened to B&S but that we never saw on screen?

A flashback to Angel becoming Twilight were a good start or a scene to season 7 when Spike gives her the beautiful speech in touched. Something to wake her up and realise how wrong this all is for gods sake. If Angel and Buffy hook up together then i dont know what to think. Its just wrong on so many levels.

He is responsible for so many deaths and he has to pay for that. Even if the big picture justify his actions.

Well, stuff happened in between episodes...in a way. There have been times during the series where we've had flashbacks to things we haven't seen before. If that is a flashback, then I'm guessing it just happened off-screen.

I've bumped this because I'm not sure when this issue is coming out. 🙁

With no better guesses, I'd say a flashback to something that happened in the gap between Season 7 & Season Eight. So it's a flashback for our characters, but new material for us.

That would mean sometime during Angel season 5, Spike contacted Buffy, but the show never even makes mention of it.

No it wouldn't. That would mean post-After the Fall. Buffy Season Eight is set somewhere between 2008 & 2010. Angel Season 5 & After the Fall are set in 2004, giving us a 4-6 year gap between Season Eight and almost any other canon material.

It could have happened during the tv series continuity too...

I hope you're wrong simply because Buffy learning Spike's alive on-panel has been seven years in the making.

Not in the story's continuity... Only a couple of years had passed between season 7 and 8, if I recall correctly. But for the fans, I see what you mean. And even if this is a flashback, there's no saying that he can't show up in current timeline at some point...

It's only been a few years since Angel Season 5, but that was already a year of waiting. I'm a Bangel, and even I can't wait to see what happens to Spuffy, since as far as we know, Buffy thinks Spike's dead.
