Spoiler! *Spoiler* Sneak peak at #34 (?)

No it wouldn't. That would mean post-After the Fall. Buffy Season Eight is set somewhere between 2008 & 2010. Angel Season 5 & After the Fall are set in 2004, giving us a 4-6 year gap between Season Eight and almost any other canon material.
That's the first time I hear said the gap was that big, the usual thing I've heard is S8 starts roundabout a year after Not Fade Away.

Where did you get that 4-6 year info?

Honestly, I just got the impression that the story is set in 2009-2010. Partly because that's where it's wrapping up, and partly beacause during TwilightGate, Whedon, Allie, and Ryall made a point that Angel becoming Twilight is still years off from the IDW time-line (which is currently late 2004 to early 2005).

Dawn is a year or two into college when the series starts, right? So I'm not sure 2008-2010 makes sense. I've read that it's 2 years after the end of season 7.

Since Buffy's mentioned knowing about the Twilight books series, (My vampire was so much better -- most recent issue) don't we have to assume that season8 takes place at a time where a Twilight reference would be culturally relevant? I feel like that means Buffy's probably got to take place around 2009-2010, contrary to earlier information that suggests it takes place much earlier. Unless of course the Twilight joke was a continuity mistake.

I realize that book series has been much longer than the movies have, but I feel like the grip that twilight has on pop culture wasn't nearly as firm as it is now until the movies came out, which I why I feel like it's probably got to be around current time. Again, that's unless it's a mistake, and continuity was overlooked in favor of a well-placed joke. But I think I'd be ok with that bc it's really about time the comics addressed the title similarities anyhow.

I think it was a purposeful mistake as sort of a joke for the readers.

...Though while the books weren't as much of a phenomenon before the movies came they were still quite popular weren't they? On Amazon's page for the first book it says it was published on Oct. 5th, 2005.

Okay first off - remember Dawn was about 16 in Season 7 - So we can say she roughly has 1-2 more years left of High School. And we now know that Dawn had been going to college for at least a year before Season 8 began. So that would make it at least 2-3 years since Chosen. And Season 8 has been going on for about a year already - so that means it's at least 2006-2008 time frame.

Also Buffy's comment to Twilight/Angel -seems to back that up. Since the Twilight Saga didn't exist prior to 2005. And the 1st movie in the saga didn't hit the theaters until late 2008.

Dawn only put in two months at Berkeley before being cursed by Kenny. If she didn't skip a grade then she graduated high school in June 2005. That means that The Long Way Home #1 would have been November 2005. Except that it would have to be farther down the line to make sense with the references in Anywhere But Here, Predators & Prey and Retreat. We don't know how long Dawn was back in Scotland by the start of S8.

References in S8 that hint at a timeline...

Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) = November 2006
Veronica Mars S2 finale = 2006
Twilight the book = October 2005

I sure hope Faith doesn't die. And I sure hope Xander slaps Buffy silly for whats she's done with Twangel.

Faith recovered hours after the Beast & Angelus double-teamed her. It would be absurd if a few blows and some bleeding did her in...
I most interested in finding out more of Xander's reaction, I mean really him and Willow could really say that Buffy has just completley betrayed them. She didn't do all she should have when she found who Twilight was, it shouldn't have been just ignored simply because of who he was. I also think Willow's remarks in the preview show that Angel is not actually be influenced by the magic, since Willow states it was already there. I don't think Angel is at all the victim in this, the girls that died are, Xander is, Willow, Faith, and Giles are. His actions from Angel season 5 prove he would completely do all the things that he has done as Twilight. I sure hope its not another force that is blamed for his actions, and even if you didn't count them. He has already killed an innocent person all in the name of the greater good.
