Thought i better make the thread seeing as no-one else has yet.

Very bad issue in my opinion, nothing but talking really, yet another useless character brought back, and a very poor revelation

As if Nina, Gwen and Kate weren't bad enough, Cordy's back =| and sharing her name with a dragon. Am i the only one who finds it weird that finding out the dragon is called Cordy didn't get more of a reaction from Conner back in issue 2? It's like he didn't even care about her anymore. And as Cordy(the woman) says, the PTB can't reach Hell-A, so she's basically telling Angel that she is an agent of the Senior Partners =|

Best part of this issue is the possible foreshadowing of a good character coming back, i wont spoil it for you, but look closely at Illyria's pages...=D

Awesome issue! I know there was nothing but talking, but it did start to bringing the story toward some kind of resolution.

I'm not completely sure what exactly happened in this issue though. So much got explained, and I'm sure I missed lots of things. I'll need to re-read it more carefully tomorrow.

I also noticed the possible spoiler.

Ooops! Got a little carried away there in all the excitement...thanks for the heads up
I also think that it was an Awesome issue. So much happened!
Cordelia was not an agent of the Senior Partners - She said she could get through to Angel now only because he was so close to death. I love that Dragon is called Cordelia and how it came to be called that. It makes the Scene in Spike After the Fall #2 make so much more sense. Since the Shanshu whas first intoduced we have always been told that:
The Shanshu Prophecy reveals that a vampire with a soul will play a major role in the Apocalypse (for good or for evil) and receive a reward ("shanshu") for his efforts
And now we know that Angel's roll looks like it will be pretty much on the evil side (did you notice the hands with black nail polish on them at Angel's feet in the double page spread? Is he going to kill Spike?)
Also it settles the issue of who the shanshu is for. It is Angel's - Angel's signing it away in Not Fade Away never got filed so it doesn't count - and like i suspected and have argued on this site, by the end of Season five Angel believed it was Spike's, not his.
Angel looks like he is a goner - he's human, with mortal wounds and hanging on by a thread - Is he going to have to be turned to save his life? Wouldn't that mean Angelus?
Cordelia Rocked. Brian Lynch captured her voice perfectly. I cried when I turned the page and saw her.
I loved it.

Oh, and i also noticed the allusion to a certain character's return.

I felt it raised more questions, especially at the end, where Angel see'sa terrifying vision of himself, which I have a couple of theory's, 1) it might be ambigous in it's meaning, he is standing victorious, with loads of dead people's heads on spikes, I notice a reference to this regarding Spike, didn't he in his evil days do this?
They could be the ememies that were on the SP's side, he could of been reverted back to being a Vampire with a soul, by some means, maybe by Wes, I mean why would the Sp's order Wes to give him one last "vision" when he was clearly dead, and knowing his reaction was to let go and die to avoid being evil?

The mere fact that Angel was human remains a mystery, now the SP's clearly want him the evil vampire he was.(The last vision)

2) The "vision" Cordy gave him might of been instigated by the SP's to allow Angel to set up the stage for Hell L.A, and used Cordy's last gift of them as a ruse. The "Vision" Wes gave Angel is to make him believe what they(SP) want him to believe, like Wes said they are all pawns, and Gunn's vamping was a set up so he would resire Angel and have him evil again, which would mean he shanshued alright, just like they wanted, so Gunn sire's him again.

The way I see it they are all being manipulated by the SP's and anything that is said is to make sure they act on the info as fact so they play into their hands.

I don't the believe the vision is actually the whole truth.

I don't believe that it's the whole truth either. I'm really curious about what the SP have been plotting all this time.

great issue, all i have to say is this deffently clears up who the true vamp with a soul was. sorry spike

One of the best issues so far IMO. The plot really came together here. So many questions answered, new ones asked, and another great cliffhanger. Awesome read.

I can't believe I only saw this now...Angel got his Shanshu! I feel like this should be announced to the whole board, it something that people would like to know. That is the one draw back about the comics, something as big as this can't be shared with everyone because of spoilers.

I don't think so, Miss K. I've been thinking about this for some time now, and the Shanshu is supposed to be a reward, not a penalty, and in Angel's situation as it stands at the moment, it is most definitely a penalty. As for him being human, we have only his word on that. He believes that he's human, sure, and he no longer has vampire powers, but that doesn't mean that he really IS human. It only means that he has been led to believe that he is, and, considering just how badly he wants it to be true, I somehow doubt that he has really done much checking to see just exactly WHAT he is. He may be disappointed by the end of this series if he hitches his wagon to that particular star.

Yeah Allycat gave me the heads up that I had misread some posts. This si what ahppens when you get separated from your comics for a prolonged period of time.
I've been thinking lately, the most obvious answer to "i found her first" would be Fred, but after what happened with Gwen, we all assume it's her right?

But with if, when Gunn was dying in the alleyway, Cordy appeared to him too? and she's really the "her" that Gunn found before Angel?

Now i missed the last part of The First Night, so you guys will have to see if there's something there that makes this theory not work. How did Gwen join the gang? Did Angel actualy find her or did she just show up with them?

And was Gunn dying in the alleyway and then sired or was he just attacked and sired straight away?

Haven't got First Night in front of me, but from memory - Gwen decides to join "someone" which we assumed was Angel but now could quite possibly be Gunn and Gunn was taken, mortally wounded, to a vampire's lair and was turned.

So judging by how injured he was at the end of NFA and how brutal the alleyway fight must have been, it's quite possible that Gunn could have been very near death on the way to the vamps hideout and Cordy appeared to him first?

Gunn was pulled out of the alley by a gang of vampires, while Angel was becoming friends with the dragon. They'd been manipulated by the W&H to believe he would lead them to... salvation?!

Gunn sought out/came across Gwen and promised her that he could get her out of hell. He had her infiltrate the Fang Gang by joining up with Connor.

So i guess the "her" that Gunn found first was Gwen after all then?...

That appears to be the case.
I've been out of the loop but I am currently reading all the comics, and I am half way through this issue and OMG!!! "Doyle" "Coming Soon." probably nothing, lol but that made me jump up and down and smile! 😀
