What is it with expired noodles? I think everybody has a half open bag of expired noodles in the back of their cupboard.

And many expired spices and sauces, perhaps?

Not noodles, but flour, spices and sauces definitely. That is something I want to go through before winter, so I can do a proper cupboard clean out and stock check, see what I need to replenish.

@Joan the Vampire Slayer you have chickens? I miss fresh eggs.

I've decided spices don't go off; they just get weaker, so you have use larger quantities.

I don't have chickens yet! I have a chicken coop though. I want to have chickens but am bit intimidated because I have never raised chickens before...

Chickens are pretty easy, I'd wait until spring now as they don't lay much over winter and depending on if you get chicks or ready to lay ones might need settling in time before they lay. There's loads of blogs and podcasts about raising chickens though.

I do massive sort outs. Books/DVDs/Games/Jigsaws/Clothes/Shoes etc. I bag them all up for charity shops; take them out to car - then take them all back in 'cos I might need them later. Then I get so despondent about my inability to free myself of crap that I go shopping for more crap.

I don't do spring cleaning. I bag up stuff like clothes, bags, dvds and cds I don't listen to or watch and or have become clutter. If I can't find what I'm looking for in a cabinet or drawer then I will toss some expired, unused and unwanted makeup, food and medicines.

Dogs toys are next to sort through! Some are ripped apart, and as much as they love the dead empty head of a toy lamb, they do not need to keep it. Or swallow it. So in the bin!

Today is going to be warm and sunny, so I am going to put all the rugs and carpets outside to air and then vacuum under them. Planning to wash the dogs too who are currently searching for bunny poos. My bin is empty and it is bin day Monday so Im going to try and fill it right up.

I bet most garages don't even get used for cars these days, they're so full of other stuff. Or is that just ours?

Awh now.....I have to share the garage where my little shop is and I still manage to get 2 cars in each night!! But yeah, there's a lot of stuff in there....much to the dismay of my wife!

I have a shed with a roller door but its a pain to pull up and drag down so i just park my car in the carport. The car doesn't lock anyway so whenever people want to rummage through it they dont need to break anything to get in!

Oh now my shed is added to the spring clean list... not much in there to sort out but it would be good to give it a sweep out and check no snakes have claimed it as their home.

Speaking of bins, I think the kiwis across the highway put cats in theirs. Its already out on the verge and stinks like death! There were suspiciously zero kittens this week when we walked past.


One of the dogs got washed. The originator of the stink, Lhasa apsos are smelly bossy dogs. The poodle would clean except she rolled in a dead squashed frog in the middle of the main street today. She shall be washed next.

The buns are so happy with sunshine smelling rugs.

Speaking of bins, I think the kiwis across the highway put cats in theirs.

A suicidal pigeon flew into my window last week and landed on top of the bay. I made youngest son poke it with a broom to see if it was dead. He pushed it off - it hit the bin and a wall before finally hitting the ground. I'm pretty sure it was dead (after if not before). He put it in a carrier bag and went to put it in the bin. I said no - 'cos maggots. He suggested a neighbour's bin (No!); a house further up the road (No!); a builder's skip (Meh?)... I left him to it. I think it ended up in a street bin. The moral of this story is - be grateful the Kiwis aren't putting the cats in your bin. 😏

Time to clean the laundry next. I've horded a few empty spray bottles and jars. They are handy, but I only have two hands! So I dont need that many of them. And the laundry trough needs a good clean too.

I threw an ice cream tub away yesterday! Yay me!

I also took two backpacks and three bags of assorted books and DVDs to Oxfam. Yay again! Then I sent a big bag of clothes/scarves etc. to Age UK. Yay! Yay!

I've collected a bag full of wool to send to mum's church (@November - sorry it wasn't worth the postage to Oz!), I'm never gonna crochet David Bowie/Freddie Mercury as intended. I've also got 4 jigsaws and a jigsaw roll to go, plus I'm working on getting rid of fabric and an old sewing machine. Yay several times over.

Unfortunately, I bought 14 new jigsaws and 4 new books. Boo me! Oh and I also relieved my mother of a new "Make your own macrame plant pot holder kit". Boo again. I think I'm back at square one.

I just found a bunch of these on the patio. I did them years ago and they arent proper macrame cord, but Im still "maybe I will use them?" And they are not in the bin... yet.

Apparently, it's fashionable again. I think my lads bought it for her. My niece also buys her "crafty" things (needle felting?) - she doesn't do those either. She used to do beading - and decoupage - and cross stitch but all I've seen recently is books - and books - and more books. When anything happens to her (she's 87) I could stock a small shop with craft stuff. 🙄 And Elizabeth Arden "Red Door" perfume...don't ask about the perfume.
