Spring Clean šŸ˜

Scrubbed the shower today. We have hard water here so it does get done more than just in spring!

I moved a big wooden storage box thing off the patio (were it has been for 5 years lol) to the end of the bed for the dogs to have a step (they dont sleep in the bed but do come up for naps). But when I went to get a doona to cover it, I found yet another thing the mice have chewed up :/ so I gotta go through that bedding storage box too.
 
My freezer will be defrosted and cleaned over the weekend. It's almost low enough to all go into the cool bag while it's defrosting.
 
I did the freezer, sadly had to throw some of the remaining food away. But it's done now.

Next job is to get the rest of the kitchen done! I burnt bread in the microwave, and gave it a quick clean but that needs a proper scrub.
 
Summer came on quick! Now it's harvest time, I will be dusting until next year.
 
Went for a nighttime stroll to off load a few books into the street library. I could probably fit another 4 in there if I am quick before someone else does šŸ˜† it was a good exchange, I only came home with one new book.
 
I need to clean the windows. Inside only thankfully, but I want to get all the frames scrubbed as the condensation does not make pretty windows.
 
We had a visit from the American Kidney Foundation today, we donate used items to them fairly regularly. 2 big bags full of clothes, room decor, kitchenware, and some random odds and ends. It's for a good cause and we get to declutter!
 
Harvest is done, so its time for another deep clean!

Pulled up the rugs to air and some to wash. I'll clean all the wood floors under them this week. Walls need dusting and doors need scrubbing.

Im expecting a new mattress this week so I am very excited about that and need to find a different size mattress protector for it.
 
Here in the Southern Hemisphere, it's late summer. We finally got some rain for the first time in weeks this morning and the cool weather was such a relief (okay, so down here in Aotearoa/NZ, my adopted city is averaging about 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit for you Americans). Ugh. I wouldn't consider myself a goth, but I really prefer the other three seasons of this year. Particularly spring (when I was born) and autumn.

Im with ya! The other seasons are far more comfortable than summer! Its 43C/110f here today so my washed rugs dried quick smart! But that is about the only perk to it. I had to hang the rugs under cover cos there is no greenery left to hold the dust down in the wind.
 
I'm cleaning the carpets today, borrowed my mother's carpet cleaner, so now to clear everything from the floor and get that going.

Whatā€™s been great about this very snowy and cold winter is that it helps you clean carpets via ā€snow bathsā€

Sure, yeah!

Orā€¦ you put your carpets outside, make sure theyā€™re cold. Then put them face down in the snow, walk over them (get that snow in there). If it is cold enough, then leave outside. Otherwise brush off snow and roll up carpet. Keep outside for a while.

It shouldnā€™t get wet from the snow basically, so it needs to be below freezing. It cleans off grime and dust very efficiently! And makes ā€™em smell niceā€¦ just avoid yellow snow!

If youā€™ve got a sauna handy, cleaning yourself in the snow is also a pretty good deal

No one was debating the amazingability of the sauna. Though I reckon the saunas in the sun-forsaken, snow covered lands are alot different than the ones we have here.
The city where I was born, Christchurch (in New Zealand) was far enough south in the southern hemisphere to have it snow there in winter sometimes. As for Australia, given I have diabetes, I get bad heat stress, so I can't live comfortably or safely over there in its summer. Dear Gaia... they've had 30+ C/86 F days in some northern and central Australian cities lately. The only tolerable parts of Australia for me are Victoria and Tasmania.
 
The decluttering continues, but I need to be more ruthless with it.
 
Still need to be more ruthless! However, taken several bags to the charity shop so far. Might try to fill another bag tonight. Will see how I go, as got lots of cleaning to do.
