1. What's your top "tearjerker" Spike/Buffy moment? Oh geez. That's a toughie. If I had to pick one, I think it would be their last scene together in Chosen. It still gets me everytime.
🙁 Their scene together in Touched, with Spike expressing his love and then seeing them cuddle, comes in a close second.
2. Do you think the reason Spike didn't tell Buffy he was alive is because it would diminish the significance of his sacrifice, or is there another reason?
I think that's part of the reason, but I also think he was just scared. Spike had never felt that close with someone and he was terrified of what that could mean and even lead to. I think he even felt a closer connection with Buffy in the Hellmouth, when their hands interlocked. And he was shocked that he could feel that close with someone, especially with Buffy. So, I think he didn't want to spoil that feeling. He knew Buffy loved him, but based on everything with Angel, he had doubts. So, I think he wanted Buffy to always remember him as a hero and champion, who sacrificed his life for her and the world.
3. Was Spike/Buffy your first Buffy-centric ship, or did you ship something else before it (Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Xander, Buffy/Riley, Spike/Drusilla, Spike/Harmony etc)? What about Spike? Did you ever ship him with anyone other than Buffy?
Regrettably, Spuffy was not my first Buffy-centric ship. I started watching Buffy from the beginning and did board the Bangel ship (I wasn't on the BB at the time). I jumped ship though in s3, when Bangel got too annoying for me. I never got on board with Buffy/Riley. I think for a while in s1, I was onboard the Buffy/Xander ship, but then I felt bad for Willow because she liked him (and I was that girl in HS who had a crush on her best guy friend, but he didn't notice). So, that ship for me didn't last long.
With Spike, I never shipped Spike/Harmony. I did ship Spike/Drusilla, even well into s5 with "Crush." I wasn't 100% onboard with Spuffy yet. I liked them together, but didn't see them as a couple. So, I absolutely loved that scene in "Crush" when Spike and Drusilla walk into the Bronze together (and still do). It seems like "old times!" Then, "Intervention" happened, which is like the perfect episode name for those who weren't on board yet with Spuffy. Stage an intervention and get their minds straight, lol!
😀 That last scene really got me and from there, I started to board the Spuffy ship
😀 "After Life" sealed the deal for me and from there, I was completely sailing Spuffy.
😀
4. How do you feel about Buffy's "Does it have to mean anything?" in "End of Days"?
I always felt that Buffy honestly didn't know what it meant when she said she was there with Spike. After Spike asks, "What does that mean," she says she doesn't know. And it seemed like she really didn't know. She knew she felt something, but wasn't exactly sure what or how strong. I think to avoid any further discussion of it, so she could maybe sort out her feelings, she said that line. I think Spike recognized that, which is why he said it didn't have to mean anything, at least "not right now."
Here's a new question...
What's your biggest pet peeve against those who don't like Spuffy? But, be respectful 🙂
For me, I just don't understand when people say Buffy didn't romantically love Spike. It's all there, especially in s7
🙂
