Spuffy #3 - General Discussion

I don't see why not! I stick to Spuffy most of the time, with the odd gen-fic thrown in. Though I have read and enjoyed some Spike/Tara fics, and I love Spike-Dawn friendship.

Actually, question for everyone (in terms of fanfic reading) - is it just me who doesn't mind if Spike is with other people, but Buffy just... can't be? I can read Spike/Other with a fairly open mind but Buffy/Other is a big no-no.

He can be with someone else... for a day or two. Then he must return to Buffy 😀

Same. I think for me, it's because I like Spike best. Spike is my favorite fictional character of all time so I like to read anything with him... That's how I feel about seasons 1, 3 and 8. Maybe that's the reason I'm not crazy about those seasons. I mean, I know season 3 is great and all, but something is missing, I have something that's got away from my eye. And that is probably Spike.

I think that's part of it for me, too. Spike instantly makes any fic more interesting - thinking about what I read, then yeah, it will always have Spike in it. Not to say I don't love Buffy - because I do - but Spike is just so entertaining to read. And he's fun to write, too!

xaphania - I agree about Spike making any scene, any interaction better. Moreover, Spike/Buffy make an interesting couple in any genre - comedy, drama, historical romance, adventure story.

Sometimes I read Spike/Faith. Very rarely. And mostly when it's all about Buffy. 🙂


Re: Spuffy sites - as far as I know, the biggest Spuffy sites are fanfiction archives. There is no a forum, created by Spuffies, where people talk only about that couple - but there are very active Spuffy threads on any BtVS forum I ever visited.

Spuffy shippers are very active on LJ. Just recently, a new community has been created - SB_Fag_Ends - for short Spuffy stories.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention livejournal. There are loads of communities devoted to Spuffy.

Spuffy shippers are very active on LJ. Just recently, a new community has been created - SB_Fag_Ends - for short Spuffy stories.

For me it's the other way around. 😀 But I've never actually read any fics from the 'verse that weren't Spuffy, so...Spuffy FTW! 😀

As for the comics...

1. How do you feel about the events of #36?
I don't particularly like the comics in general. Haven't read them, and after looking up what's happened, I don't plan to. It's too far-fetched for my liking. But I keep up with where it's going just to know what happens with Spuffy. Regarding #36...I don't really like what I've heard happened. Especially the part where Buffy apparently knew Spike was alive all along. I wanted her to not know, and be genuinely surprised (and overjoyed 😀) to see him come out of that ship. But alas! Buffy had to be a bitca towards him and go tell Angel that she loves him and her cookies are baked and blah blah blah. I'm glad Spike put her in her place.

2. Does Spuffy have a future? What sort - friendship or something more?
As much as I hate to say this, unless Angel dies (it won't happen but it should!😀 Nah, jk, I don't hate him. Just the whole him becoming Twilight thing) I think the most we can hope for is a close friendship and trust between Spike and Buffy. I don't know how I'd feel about that. I mean, I'd be happy they were friends, but then I'd remember that meanwhile Buffy's boinking Angel 😡 Spike totally deserves her more than Angel! He stuck around during the bad times and comforted her and stuff. And I know there was the AR, but still! He went and got a soul for her! Angelus would never ever ever do that!

Arrghhh! I wish that they'd bring back Cordelia so she an Angel can get together and leave Spike and Buffy the hell alone! 😀

3. Speculations and theories for the last four issues of Season 8?
Angel will die! Then there'll be a massive party with ewoks just like at the end of Return of the Jedi! Everyone will be happy, Spike will become human, and he and Buffy will live happily ever after in a house with a white picket fence, a golden retriever and two or three absolutely adorable children!

*Sighs* Ah, a girl can dream

But honestly, I have no idea. Nothing would probably surprise me anymore, though, considering how weird the plot already is.

I think that Angel is still under someone's thumb, and Buffy is being not only irresponsible, but bordering on criminally negligent in allowing him to run around free, unescorted, and unrestrained, considering what the season has so far led us to believe about Twilight and its real agenda. Also, how can so many (Bangle) fans get so weak kneed and fluttery hearted about the sexual escapades that Buffy and Angel have just participated in and still say that what Buffy and Spike did in "Smashed" was nothing but violent, degrading, meaningless animal fornication, with not even the slightest bit of romance attached? What Buffy and Angel did was exactly the same thing, only the violence and potential destructiveness was far more intense. And the "bestest day of (Buffy's) life" consists of boinking the murderer of several hundred young Slayers? Maybe Spike was right all along. Maybe she DID come back wrong.

2. Does Spuffy have a future?

I think that before this dog and pony show is finally concluded, the Spuffy supporters are going to be, if not overjoyed, at least hopeful for what the future has in store for Buffy and Spike. Call it an Avenger dream. I see pleasant days ahead for our favorite Slayer and vampire. Maybe not quite as pleasant as we would want, but pleasant, nonetheless.


3. Speculations and theories for the last four issues of Season 8?

1) The biggest thing is that Spike's space/time/interdimensional portal ship is going to be used in an attempt to alter the events of history (which is just about the only possible bail out plan that could work for Angel at this point) but will have only limited success.

2) Also, I think that we just might discover that Buffy lied, or at least exaggerated, when she said that she knew that Spike was back all along and was just too busy to try to get in touch.

3) Xander and Dawn just plain aren't going to work out, and not because of the death of one of the principals.

4) The end of Season 8 will definitely lead into the events of Season 9, but there will not be any sort of cliffhanger ending for Season 8.

5) Spike and Faith are going to wind up a happily married couple with half a dozen fat beautiful babies, while Buffy is going to be a bitter old maid librarian and short order cook for the rest of her life.

Spike converts to Mormonism and marries Buffy, Faith, and Illyria. They have a dozen fat happy babies and Angel becomes a bitter old used car salesman whose idea of a good time is sitting in his living room in his underwear, drinking light beet and watching reruns of "Bones" every evening.

Obviously my answer if a big fat emphatic NO!

But crap - I've been thinking about this all day and now I can't get it out of my head that Angel and Spike are gonna be body-swapped. 😱

I'm being paranoid. And no, I don't really believe this will happen, but still.... it would get the fandom irrate and outraged - as Allie and Jeanty have predicted #39 will. Probably moreso than a big Character death (as that is pretty much expected by everyone).

Well aside from Buffy's blathering about 'bestest days' and all I really quite liked it. I thought Spike came across really well. Beautifully written - completely in character. I'm thinking that the twilight glow has an effect similar to alcohol - makes you do and say things you wouldn't usualy do or say and amplify feelings - I'm not saying that Buffy doesn't love Angel (cos she clearly does) but rather, that her inhibitions and doubts and fears and qualms have been silenced by the twilight influence. I'm glad to hear that Buffy and Spike have some scenes coming up in the remaining issues. Because I really just want to see them have a conversation. A proper one.

2. Does Spuffy have a future? What sort - friendship or something more?

Spuffy will always be. It may be friendship for the moment but I hear that dark horse is talking Buffy season 10 - so really, ya think she's gonna settle this issue any time soon. Hope not. I would be happy to see it unresolved forever.

Angel and Spike are going to get their right bodies back - nah joking😀 Well I think that Buffy and Spike will sort things out and become friends again. That's all I really want. (for the moment anyway😉)

Sorry for sounding dumb, but what's seasonal Spuffy?

It's a seasonal celebration of Spuffy - everyone who signs up is assigned a posting day, when you can post anything Spuffy-related that you've created - fic, art, vids, icons etc.

It's fun! I've participated in the last three rounds and there's always loads of fab fic etc. posted so it's great as a reader/viewer as well as a participant.
